August 1, 2007 Joan Rivers Lets It All Hang Out On The View

The woman who face will never crack made everyone else crack up when she appeared on The View yesterday. From the time she announced sex was the first subject of the day to when she confessed about being most proud of her sexual prowess Joan kept the jokes rolling. Around 3:01 she leaves the other ladies speechless when she says the reason why women marry gay men is because, “you can be screwing and then get your hair done!” I swear she’s one of the funniest 74 year-old women alive and you’ve got to respect her for staying afloat in the entertainment game for over 30 years. Check out the clips below and watch Barbara Walters turn to jelly because of all the debauchery.

Joan Rivers and Joy Behar (big mama with the red hair) keep the show far from it’s cookie cutter norm… though it does take the show a minute to really get rollin’.

*be warned, the sound quality for these clips could use some improvement.

MTV is launching another series that we probably won’t care about – at all! Newport Beach: The Real OC is set to premiere Wednesday, August 15th, at 10:30 p.m. on MTV. Laguna Beach seasons 1-3 wasn’t enough? By the 2nd episode of season 2, we were bored. In addition, why will this show be on the same season as MTV’s The Hills which also focuses on prior characters from former Laguna seasons?!

Take us Higher Lord! Where is the original programming?!

July 27, 2007 Finding The Next Co-Host Of The View

Word on the street is that the producers of The View have narrowed down their search for the next co-host to two comedians and are set to make a very special announcement really soon. Up for the running are:

Update: Yahoo news now reports that Sherri Shpeherd and Whoopi Goldberg are in final negotiations with ABC to join the ladies of The View. I must say that I’m shocked their gonna put two Black women on the show, and comedians at that. With three comedians at the table it’s gonna be more like Def Comedy Jam than a daytime talkshow! I’m looking forward to it. Bring back the spice!

Stats: 40yo comedienne, married, 1 child
Best Known For: Her guest roles on Less Than Perfect and Everybody Loves Raymond
Pros: If you squint she looks like Star Jones two-years ago. On a more serious note, she’s got an easy-going lovable personality. Her cleavage!
Cons: She’s not as experienced as some of the other contenders and may get overwhelmed by the other lively ladies.
.
Whoopi Goldberg

Stats: 51yo comedienne, divorced, 1 child
Best Known For: Her Oscar, Golden-Globe, and Emmy-winning performances (The Color Purple, Ghost).
Pros: She doesn’t really need the job so she’s more inclined to really give her “view” before she bends down to kiss Barbara’s ass.
Cons: She won’t kiss Barbara’s ass and she’ll likely come with a hefty paycheck!

July 26, 2007 SYTYCD Recap!

We were thrown for a loop last night when the dancers randomly chose their partners for this week’s dance, and not to mention the Wade Robson piece we had to watch ten times! Hopefully this format won’t be too taxing in the weeks to come. Here’s the rundown!

Dominic and Jamie were a big no no all around. This dance was just not for him, and from the costumes, we felt like they should be on a mountain top yodeling instead of doing a romantic waltz. Plus, the music was too powerful for what should’ve been a regal routine. The judges tore Dominic to pieces, which was hard to watch for his sake, so we hope this isn’t a sign for what could happen tomorrow night!

Kameron is no Dominic, and the chemistry between him and Sabra last night was not what we’re used to. The judges were kind of right in their criticism of his technique, but their praise of Sabra was so on the mark. She’s like a breath of fresh air. When you say the words natural talent, you’re talking about Sabra. We wouldn’t be surprised if she’s one of the last two girls standing!

Lacey and Danny were sex personified. Their routine gave us goosebumps! Lacey turns up her inner sexpot no matter what she does on stage, and it really worked for last night’s samba. Plus, that song (”Hip hip chin chin”) was so perfect. The judges didn’t seem overly impressed with Danny’s performance, but we thought they made a nice on-stage couple!

Lauren and Pasha were so bad. The hip hop thing just doesn’t work for many of the dancers, which is perfectly fine when you consider that they’re mostly amazing at everything else! Watching Pasha was just comical. Please. All SYTYCD choreographers: No more hip hop for Pasha!

Sara and Neil gave us a little disco. Their routine was just plain fun! Neil’s a great dancer, but Sara’s so magnetic. She draws your attention in and manages to hold it the entire time. There’s something to be said for a breaker who can move like that!

Of all the solos last night, Sabra and Lauren really summed up all the emotion and beauty in the piece. Check them out here:

And just because we loved, loved, loved this routine, here’s the Adam Shankman choreographed piece for “You Can’t Stop The Beat”. No, this was not on last night’s episode, but something about this dance literally had us rejoicing! Check it out again if you missed it:

MTV’s The Real World: Sydney!

MTV’s Real World is back but I cannot say it’s better than ever. This Sydney cast looks a hot mess ordered on a fiery skillet with a splash of mediocrity on the side. The trailer is oh so dramatical & it just looks boring. With two cast members named Dunbar & Cohutta, I’m afraid of what is to come!

Watch the premiere on Wednesday August 8th at 10 pm.

July 24, 2007 Drew Carey On The Price Is Right

It was announced yesterday that Drew Carey will be the new host of The Price is Right. Sorry Rosie. Looks like your reputation didn’t pull a win for you in this category! Here’s what Carey had to say:

Asked if he found the prospect of replacing such a TV legend daunting, Carey recalled talking to a friend who knows the game show business who told him, “as long as Bob Barker is cool with it, the fans will be cool with it.”
