Love muffins after the (in Usher’s eyes) moderate success of his latest album Here I Stand, Usher has fired his manager Benny Medina. Instead he has gone back to his momager Jonnetta Patton to be his manager once again, who managed him on the Confessions album.

“With an artist like Usher, the bar is set really high,” Medina tells E! News. “Whether it was management, marketing or the music, we achieved a No. 1 single and a No. 1 album…I had a great time and we parted ways amicably.” E!Online

To me it sounds like he is just trying to save face because he was dropped on it. Thoughts?

Usher’s supposedly third single from his album Here I Stand is “His Mistakes”. Honestly, I don’t feel this song will be a hit. Even though the album was a disappointment, there are at least 5 songs on the album that could be potential hits, but “His Mistakes” is not one of them – “Lifetime” is really beautiful. Thoughts?

Rihanna and Jay-Z performed their smash hit “Umbrella” at the ‘3rd Thisday Africa Rising Festival’ in Abuja, Nigeria on Friday night. Rihanna looked super duper hot on stage! Just look at those $1 million dollar legs! Usher also performed working up a sweat. I wonder if he sung live. Hopefully video footage will surface soon. Two of the top selling artists in the country may not be competing against one another for record sales, but that doesn’t stop them from competing for magazine sales for the month of August. Usher covers the August 2008 issue of Essence magazine, while my diva Mariah Carey looks absolutely stunning on the August 2008 issue of Elle magazine. Again, Usher talks about his marriage to his wife Tameka. I am honestly tired of him defending his marriage. I am happy that he has found the person that he wants to spend the rest of his life with, but he needs to realize that people are going to talk regardless if he is speaking on the truth or not. So Usher, I urge to stop defending your marriage and live the way you want to live. Yes Mariah does speak a little bit on her marriage in Elle magazine, but she is not on the defensive side and she doesn’t speak for Nick. She also talks how she and Barack Obama are similar. So if you want to read both articles, go and pick up a copy at your nearest newsstand. Thoughts?

Usher opened the BET Awards ‘08 off with a couple seconds of his latest single “Moving Mountains” then went right into his hit single “Love In This Club”. Honestly, the energy on the stage could have been better. I was really hoping for a Beyonce cameo for his “Love In The Club” remix, but I was disappointment. Chris Brown was super duper adorable as he sung to Rihanna’s hit “Take A Bow”. Ne-Yo performed “Closer” from his upcoming album Year Of The Gentleman. He was flying all over the place – the only thing missing was a cape. Alicia Keys bought girl power back love muffins! Usher covered the July issue of Vibe magazine and he puts the rumor of firing his mother to rest.

“I decided to not fire, not get rid of, but to give [my mother] the ultimate compliment — to retire her to be a full-time grandmother.


“My mother and I decided to change her situation, together,” he adds. “There was a conversation. I didn’t write her a letter or pink slip her.”


“Am I so much of a bad guy because I decided to get married?” Usher says. “Am I so much of a bad guy [because once I got in the situation] I decided to stand for something, build a foundation and think about my future? As a man, you would respect me for not turning my back on it.”

I hope his relationship with his mother has gotten better, because his son needs a grandmother. It’s good to hear that Usher didn’t fire his mother – two adults sat down and discussed business. Do you think his mother resigned to spend more time with her grandchild, or do you think his mother quit because of his relationship with Tameka?
