Oprah Winfrey delivered this sad but true message to Rihanna during her show on Friday: “If a man hits you once, he WILL hit you again.”

According to People, if necessary, “the protected persons [Rihanna] may record any prohibited communications made by the restrained person.” The order will last until March, 2012. Also, if she is required to testify, she will “do everything that the law requires her to do,” according to Us. I’m glad to hear that she’ll testify if need be.

Even though Chris Brown did not enter into a plea on Thursday morning, the commissioner felt there was a need for an order of protection to be issued (as do I).

The commissioner issued a protective order against the singer, saying, “Mr. Brown, you are not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone.” People

As far as Rihanna not leaving Chris’ side, “she did not feel a stay-away order was necessary,” according to a friend of hers.

Update: Chris Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos did not enter a plea to the two felony charges. The judge granted Brown’s request for a continuance to April 6th.

Breaking News: The L.A. County District Attorney has just charged Chris Brown with felony assault and making criminal threats (also a felony). The charging documents name Robyn F. (aka Rihanna) as the alleged victim. Brown will be arraigned today at 3:30 PM in downtown LA. Chris Brown could face a maximum of four years and eight months in prison. [Source]

More Details Emerge: FOX 11 in L.A. obtained LAPD detectives’ notes from a search warrant in the case. As per the notes, Rihanna read a three-page text message on Brown’s phone from a woman. An argument ensued and Brown allegedly tried forcing Rihanna out of the car but couldn’t because she was wearing her seat belt.

Brown then allegedly shoved Rihanna’s head against the passenger window. When Rihanna turned to face him, Brown punched her, then continued punching her while driving, according to the detective’s notes.

Blood spattered all over Rihanna’s clothing and in the interior of the car. Her mouth was filled with blood. Brown allegedly told Rihanna, “I’m going to beat the **** out of you when we get home. You wait and see.”

Rihanna called her assistant and left a message saying, “I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there.” Brown then replied, “You just did the stupidest thing ever. I’m going to kill you.” According to the report, Brown continued to punch Rihanna, bit her on her ear, her fingers and put her in a headlock – she almost lost consciousness. [Source]

Note: The photo that TMZ obtained showing Rihanna battered, bloody and bruised is mild compared to other photos. They’ve learned additional pics were taken on February 9, the day after the attack, and they are far more gruesome – the bruises and swelling far more pronounced. Jesus, take the wheel! After Rihanna suffered what the LAPD described as a “horrific” assault allegedly from her boyfriend, Chris Brown, she took him back! “They’re together again. They care for each other,” says the source who spoke to People.

Adds the source, “While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves.”

The volatile couple are currently spending time together at one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ homes on Miami Beach’s Star Island. According to [usmagazine.com], “she’s not listening to anyone…and of course Puff got involved in this,” says a pal of Rihanna.

I want to say I’m surprised by Rihanna going back to Chris Brown, but not because it’s a textbook case of battered person syndrome. Love muffins, this whole situation is disturbingly sad and unfortunately happens all too often in the communities in which we live.

Update I: Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has spoken to [usmagazine.com] from his home in Barbados about his daughter’s decision to get back with Chris Brown. Fenty says, “I love my daughter with whatever road she takes. I’m behind her win or lose. I will be supportive. If that’s the road she wants to choose, I’m behind her. I hope to see her soon. I talked to her after her birthday, and she told me she’s OK.”

Update II: Chris Brown has been seen smiling, riding a jet ski, and flexing his arm muscles. Rihanna arrived four days ago, according to a source.
