Mariah Carey performed an intimate gig in NYC for iHeartRadio’s ‘Stripped’. She performed “Always Be My Baby”, “We Belong Together”, “I Want To Know What Love Is”, and “H.A.T.E.U”. Vocally, she sounded great. She had great balance between her vocals and the vocals from background singers. The remix features OJ Da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, & Big Boi and heavily samples Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo.” I like the fact that the remix is essentially an entirely different song, not just a few added vocals or guest rappers. This way I can love the original and the remix for completely different reasons!

I’ve been listening to this album non-stop since last week and I can honestly say that this is some of her best work. The album was produced almost entirely by The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Mariah herself and it’s clear that they have an undeniable chemistry as I feel this album is one of her most personal and cohesive albums to date.

Today, as a part of Oprah’s live Friday concert series, Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform her new single “I Want To Know What Love Is” (which is now available on iTunes, along with pre-order for her album) and she nailed it! I can’t begin to tell you how ecstatic I am to see Mimi on stage singing for her life! She looked absolutely radiant & healthy in a skin tight catsuit with her throwback honey brown curls! Mariah Carey was live on the phone from New York on the French NRJ morning show Le 6-9 Wednesday morning, Sept. 16th. During the show one of the hosts brought up whether or not “Obsessed” (which is currently #7 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart) is about Eminem.

Mariah responded: “I don’t even know who that is. [Laughter] I wrote the song and I’m very happy with it. And I’m happy with my new album. So I don’t know if somebody wants to write their little songs. I haven’t heard them on the radio, I don’t know what’s going on with that. They don’t seem to play them here in America. I’m not sure so I don’t know.”

I know that’s right Mimi that’s exactly how I would have responded because he’s a “mom and pop” and you’re a “corporation.”

UPDATE: Audio of “Up Out My Face” has been added after the jump!

Mimi pulled out all the stops last night during the first of four shows as a part of a limited engagement at the Pearl Theatre at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The three remaining shows are on September 12th, October 9th, and October 10th. The set list was a mixture of both old hits such as “Always Be My Baby,” “Honey,” “Obsessed,” and “We Belong Together,” and she debuted a few new songs off of Memoirs….

Mariah looked amazing! I’m totally loving the throwback curls and the more natural appearance she’s been rocking lately. One fan recorded her live performance of a brand new track called “Angels Cry.” From what I can tell she sounded great. I just can’t wait for this album!

Last week, Mariah’s 2nd single “I Want To Know What Love Is” leaked in poor sound quality. Today the final, mastered version of the song hit the net. There aren’t any major differences, however the song as a whole sounds a lot better. You can really hear the vocal details and things of that nature that really make the song great.

In other Mariah news, Mimi is scheduled to perform live on Oprah on Friday, September 18th! There will not only be an interview, but there will also be a performance of new material from Memoirs…. You know that yours truly will indeed be watching.

Mariah’s official first single was set to premiere later this week, but lucky for us it leaked early! “I Want to Know What Love Is” is a remake of the 80s classic originally performed by Foreigner. I knew that when it was time for Mimi to bring it that she would come and shut it down! She is singing her ass off. Period. Everything that Mariah has to offer is beautifully crafted into this song. The song has been described as a “powerhouse ballad” and I have to admit that I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect, but this blew me away. I can’t wait to hear this live because I know that she is going to bring it!

As you all know I love myself some Mimi so I’m going to spare you the details about how much I love her but I will however highlight that she’s literally glowing with happiness. The wait is finally over! Mimi’s brand new video for her hot like fire single “Obsessed” premiered today via Yahoo music. I’m not going to spoil it for you all, but the ending is hilarious! People need to realize that Mariah’s performance was a tribute to the greatest performer of all time, Michael Jackson. The performers and speakers you saw today were there paying their respects, grieving, and saying their final goodbyes to Michael. It doesn’t matter how she sounded, she was singing from the heart! She was on that stage giving it her all and trying not to let her emotions get the best of her and for that I think she deserves some respect.

I definitely understand Mimi and her millions of lambs do too. Mimi just know that you have been talked worse about by better. People are so hard on Mariah and hold her to such a high standard, but the standard to which she is often held is herself at her best. Obviously the emotionally overwhelmed Mariah we saw today was not her at her best but she still was strong enough to get up there and sing. Everyone handles their pain and emotions differently. I don’t see how people seem to overlook that even though she started off a bit rough towards the beginning, she really pulled through and brought it home in the end. This was about Michael, and for those of you who can’t see the bigger picture I truly feel sorry for you. Like I said on Twitter, I’m so sick of people constantly looking for someone to drag through the mud to make themselves feel better.

The diva has hired top-notch director Brett Ratner, who is responsible for many of her hottest videos, including “We Belong Together”, “Heartbreaker”, “Touch My Body”and “It’s Like That”. The first day of shooting was held behind closed doors on the fourth floor of The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The overall concept of the video is a secret, and there are reportedly “many surprises” that Mariah’s camp doesn’t want to reveal just yet. According to Turkish daily newspaper, Gazete Vatan, Mariah Carey performed only four songs in Turkey over the weekend for a whopping $1.5 million dollars. Additionally the pop diva scored a $100,000 diamond butterfly ring as part of the deal! Now that’s what I call having a good agent!

Mariah Carey performed only 4 songs during the night and she got 1.5 million dollars in return. The world-famous singer who talked about her butterfly-shaped ring she wore on the stage said, “This is a gift from Ismailov family for me.” It was reported that the ring costs around 100,000 dollars.

The fascinating finale of the night was ended by Mariah Carey. Carey, who got all the guests on the dance floor, and the guests later on continued their night at the “Monkey Bar”.

Mariah Carey (rocking Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009) and hubby Nick Cannon attended Roberto Cavalli’s dinner held on his yacht during the 62nd International Cannes Film Festival Saturday night in Cannes. Mariah recently spoke on her reasoning for her role as a social worker in her new film Precious with UK’s ITN:

“I had to kind of completely lose everything that is me – the celebrity or the singer or however you want to describe me. That was number one like that had to go out the window immediately and that wasn’t an issue really. Aside from that, it was like shedding layers of a mask or just skin, just really like becoming somebody completely new. Even more than just like, ‘Okay, there’s no make-up in this, we’re gonna do a prosthetic nose.’ They tried to do prosthetic nose. My face broke out from that. We had to take it off but it still… then it just enlarged my nose. It was like everything that could go wrong, you know, Lee wanted me to look as unglamorous as I could because you really didn’t want people to be taken out of the film but he believed that I could do this role of the social worker.”ITN

After hearing Eminem’s new song “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” Nick Cannon went off in his blog to defend his wife (and my diva’s) honor! Eminem rapped about his relationship with Mariah, jokingly stated he wanted her back. Once Nick heard his name on the song, it was over for him.

It looks like Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey (Cannon) were in a little car accident in Los Angeles Thursday morning.
