July 8, 2008 Cover Wars: Mariah Carey vs Usher!

Two of the top selling artists in the country may not be competing against one another for record sales, but that doesn’t stop them from competing for magazine sales for the month of August. Usher covers the August 2008 issue of Essence magazine, while my diva Mariah Carey looks absolutely stunning on the August 2008 issue of Elle magazine. Again, Usher talks about his marriage to his wife Tameka. I am honestly tired of him defending his marriage. I am happy that he has found the person that he wants to spend the rest of his life with, but he needs to realize that people are going to talk regardless if he is speaking on the truth or not. So Usher, I urge to stop defending your marriage and live the way you want to live. Yes Mariah does speak a little bit on her marriage in Elle magazine, but she is not on the defensive side and she doesn’t speak for Nick. She also talks how she and Barack Obama are similar. So if you want to read both articles, go and pick up a copy at your nearest newsstand. Thoughts?

June 18, 2008 Cover Wars: Nicole vs Anne!

Cover girls Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway will duke it out for the sales as both (Nicole Vogue and Anne InStyle) ladies July 2008 issues hit the newsstands in the following days. Nicole and Anne look stunning on the cover of each magazine. Preview the articles below:

Nicole Kidman, Vogue
Being a mother again: “When I first saw the baby on the ultrasound, I started crying. I didn’t think I’d get to experience that in my lifetime. I like the unpredictable nature of it. To feel life growing with you is something very, very special, and I’m going to embrace that completely. I don’t believe in flittering around the edges of things. You’re either going to walk through life and experience it fully or you’re going to be a voyeur. And I’m not a voyeur.”

Anne Hathaway, InStyle
What does she and Jessica Biel have in common: “I started working out about three months before the film began. I wanted to be curvy and muscle-y. I took my body inspiration from Jessica Biel. I didn’t quite get those results, but she’s great.”

June 4, 2008 Mary Kate Covers ‘Elle’!

Mary Kate Olsen covers the July issue of Elle. She makes some questionable style choices, but she sizzles on the cover – you better work Mary Kate. In this interview she talks about college, life growing up in the public eye, her style choices, and what is to be sexy.

“The affirmations you get as a child star are so different from the ones I presume one seeks as a woman. I feel like I can be sexy when I want to be. I think all women are sexy. Some may feel it more than others. I personally think the women who are the most sexy are the women who are truly themselves, whatever that may be.”

June 3, 2008 Gwyneth Paltrow Covers ‘Harper’s Bazaar’

Gwyneth Paltrow looks stunning on the July 2008 issue of Harper’s Bazaar – just divine in pink! In this issue, she talks about having to stay in shape.

“All the negative things have actually ended up being really positive because they’ve kick-started me into thinking how I want to look for the rest of my life.”

You better speak on it Gwyneth! Many people in the entertainment industry try to break people down by mainly by criticizing others weight. I stay fit only because it is healthy – I love having a clean body and soul. Staying fit doesn’t mean you have to be a size 0 or a size 2. You can be a size 12 and still be healthy and fit.

Did Leona Lewis Diss Mariah?

British sensation Leona Lewis covers the July issue of Blender magazine and I love the cover. However, I hate when people compare her to Mariah Carey, saying ’she is the next Mariah’. I only mention Mariah in this post only because of the cover tag ‘Look out Mariah, Leona is Pop’s Next Megastar’. Just because Leona can hit notes in the whistle register doesn’t mean she is the next Mariah. Both women have their own style.

“I don’t wear little mini skirts and low-cut tops. If you want to show your bits off, it’s up to you. When I was 18, I had a few glasses of Alcopop — they’re bubblegummy drinks with a bit of alcohol — and it was gross. I’ve tasted champagne, which is gross. And I tasted wine, which I don’t like.”

I notice that when many singers come on the scene, they embrace the girl next door look, but then years later they shed that image for a more sexed up image. But then again, there are some that don’t shed it, but embrace it with a little sex appeal, i.e. Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff. Thoughts?

May 30, 2008 Angelina Jolie Covers ‘Vanity Fair’

The splendiferous mother-to-be Angelina Jolie graces the cover of July’s issue of Vanity Fair. She is just stunning! I know she is ready to have her babies – yes, you already know she will be having more kids!

On being pregnant with twins: “I love it. It makes me feel like a woman. It makes me feel that all the things about my body are suddenly there for a reason. It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing. Also, I’m fortunate. I think some women have a different experience depend-ing on their partner. I think that affects it. I happen to be with somebody who finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy.”

On her international family: “When I was growing up I wanted to adopt, because I was aware there were kids that didn’t have parents. It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other. I look at Shiloh—because, obviously, physically, she is the one that looks like Brad and I when we were little—and say, ‘If these were our brothers and sisters, how much would we have known by the time we were six that it took into our 30s and 40s to figure out?’ I suppose I’m giving them the childhood I always wished I had.”

On daughter Shiloh’s birth: “We were in this little hospital in Africa when Shi was born. I don’t think there was anybody else in the hospital. It was just a little cottage, the three of us. It ended up being the greatest thing…. I had a C-section and I found it fascinating. I didn’t find it a sacrifice and I didn’t find it a painful experience. I found it a fascinating miracle of what a body can do.”
