You go to Milan Fashion Week – especially to Dolce & Gabbana – you better have your sexy style game on.  Unfortunately, these three A-listers all managed to fail.  Eva Mendes and Freida Pinto look swallowed up in satin sheets, and those gaudy belts only accent how unflattering these silhouettes are on them.  Kate Hudson bored us with her blase brown suit.  Even shoes couldn’t save these three lovely ladies – all of their choices were just as forgettable.  Dolce & Gabbana, please help these ladies!  Put them in one of your divine, body-con sheath dresses.  It’s Milan, after all, and if you’ve got it, you’ve got to flaunt it!

Eva Mendes showed up to the “Live!” Photocall in Rome looking lovely as usual.  She really can pull off any color, and she always looks perfectly polished with the right shoes, hair, and makeup.  This dress is a bit safe for my taste, but Eva really can’t do wrong.  She looks classic!

The 66th Annual Golden Globes was the place to be Sunday night. The stars came out as they arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Kate Beckinsale and Eva Mendes looked purified in white while I am not sure what was going on with Cameron Diaz’s ensemble. Jennifer Lopez’s dress looked like it was suede. Every time I mention the name Eva Mendes to another guy, he gets this stupid grin on his face while, no doubt, fantasizing: Eva Mendes mowing his lawn. Eva Mendes juicing kale in his kitchen. But when I mention Eva’s name to a woman, the response is almost a nonresponse. “Oh,” the woman will invariably say, “she’s . . . really pretty.” Coming from a woman, this is not necessarily a compliment, which isn’t to say it’s not a fact. At 33, Eva Mendes is uniquely pretty, Revlon-commercial pretty, the-new-face-of-Calvin-Klein-underwear pretty — but, as a matter of conversational reflex, one woman calling another woman “really pretty,” and only that, is also a way of outright dismissing her. What these women really mean when they remark on Eva’s bone structure and skin tone is that she is not an intimate in the Sarah Jessica Parker/Jennifer Aniston sense. She is that suspect thing, a guy’s girl — who stars in movies for dudes, about dudes (2 Fast 2 Furious, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Training Day, Ghost Rider), with all that implies. But if Eva has her way, this is about to change.

Substance Abuse
DC: First of all, what is it with actors and substance abuse?…They’re going to have to change the name of it to “Alcoholics Unanimous.”

EM: I’m not making jokes, because people die from this stuff. So, honestly, I think it’s a bit tacky that you made a joke. I’ve got to be honest…I’m not angry. But because celebrities’ lives are so visible, I think it makes it look lighter than it is. I have a really good sense of humor, I’m just very sensitive. The other day I was reading an article. I don’t even remember who the actress was, but she’s been around for a long time. She said something like, “I’m proud that I’ve had a whole career without making it to rehab.” I thought, That’s such a negative twist on it. I’m proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better. This is a life or death situation. Again, I’m not a spokesperson for this, but it’s just that I want to support people for their decisions when they do go in and get help.
