March 15, 2007 Angeline Jolie Makes Adoption Official!

Angelina Jolie left an orphanage in southern Vietnam earlier today with her soon-to-be adopted 3-year-old son. Angelina and her son Maddox spent about 30 minutes inside the orphanage where they were welcomed with an elaborate traditional ceremony. After the welcoming, the brand new family left the building followed by a buzz of reporters and photographers. The Vietnamese press claims that the boy is named Pham Quang Sang and will be renamed Pax Thien Jolie. Pax means “peace” in Latin, while Thien means “heaven” or “sky” in Vietnamese.
Baby Boy Brad wasn’t there for the adoption because under Vietnam adoption laws it is much easier for a single parent to adopt than an unwed couple. It wasn’t immediately clear where they were heading, but officials earlier said Jolie was expected to meet with U.S. consular officials, who must review the adoption before a passport can be issued for the boy. Congrats! That’s one lucky kid!
