I love me some Alicia Keys but that makeup is on so thick it became a face mask preventing us from seeing any glimpse of her natural beauty below! Take me higher lord, I can’t imagine having all that on my face! On a more positive note, I heard that she turned her performance out at LA’s Bellavardo Studio on Saturday.

Here are the performances Alicia Keys taped for a BET mini-concert in early October, which aired last Friday night called “Alicia Keys: Requested”. Love muffins you have you watch these performances – so much passion and quality vocals!

As many of you may know, Alicia Keys’ new album entitled As I Am drops next week but has already leaked. All I can say is that I am really feeling it right now. Her sound seems more grittier and stripped down than her last album but I like that she’s taking me somewhere different with this album. Don’t get my wrong, there is still the Alicia Keys soul but there is something different and I like it. My favorite tracks are the Prince influenced “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”, the soulful “Lesson Learned” with John Mayer, and the woman’s anthem “Superwoman”.

This actually makes the second time that Alicia Keys and John Mayer have paired up. Few may know that she sang the background vocals on the final 30 seconds of the song “Gravity” from Mayer’s latest album Continuum.

The oh so stunning Alicia Keys gave a private showcase at El Colegio de Médicos de Madrid yesterday performing several of her new songs for the intimate Spanish crowd. Alicia really does look great in these pictures, her hair and makeup are just stellar! (A)

As we previously posted, Alicia Key’s next single will be a new jam titled “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”. From the first listen this song had Prince written all over it. I love it because it is unlike anything else I hear on radio right now. Although Alicia Keys already covered a Prince track (How Come You Don’t Call Me). This track had her interpreting the pop legend in her own way. The result is a song that is sleek, soulful, and sweet.

People can say what they want about the androgynous pop star but the fact of the matter is that Prince is a musical genius. His lyrics and songwriting were groundbreaking and his vocal styling have influenced many of the male and female stars of our day (see D’angelo, Maxwell, Robin Thicke, Ciara). He also was the first singer/songwriter to make a lucrative career writing for other artists (Vanity, Chaka Kahn, Sinead O’Connor, The Bangles, Mel’isa Morgan), a track that artists like Babyface and R. Kelly can thank him for. The man could not only write a song but could play almost any instrument on the face of the planet. Simply incredible, I’m pulling out my Prince Greatest Hits right now.
