Hey love muffins! If you’re anything like me, you’ve already started the countdown for Thanksgiving, whatever your plans may be. Whether you’re going to kick back at your Mom’s all day, table hop from your cousin’s for cocktails, your grandma’s for dinner and your best friend’s for dessert; you know you’re going to have your face in a plate all day long! Some of us celebrate during the days that precede and follow “Turkey Day,” ending in a week’s worth of the consumption of mass quantities of food. Good food. The options are endless the appetite bottomless, so one must temper themselves to avoid the “muffin top,” “trucker gut” or the “Turkey 10″ … you get where I’m going with this, right? Let’s try not to lose ourselves in the bliss of family, fun and, most importantly, food! Key word being: try. I can’t make any promises but, again, I will “tryyyy.” Who’s with me? The poem “Still I Rise” by the legendary autobiographer and poet Maya Angelou truly inspired and encouraged me last night. Love muffins I just had to post this for your spiritual absorption. In addition to her well-known autobiographies, Maya Angelou has steadily written poetry over the years. In the below video Professor Angelou recites her poem, “Still I Rise,” from her volume of poetry And Still I Rise, published in 1978. Listen and let her words resonate deep within your soul.
