February 28, 2010 In Case You Missed It: Jennfer Lopez Does SNL
Jennifer Lopez has had a rough week. First, she confirms her ‘amicable’ spilt from her record label, and last night she gave two less than stellar performances on Saturday Night Live. She traded in her sparkly jumpsuit and Louboutin heels for two never before heard, laid back numbers (“Pieces” & “Starting Over”) from her upcoming Love? album. She also did a semi-funny Rihanna impersonation during the “We Are The World” parody skit. On a more positive note, she looked absolutely beautiful and I’m excited to see what else Love? has in store for us!
Jennifer…girl…you can’t rely on your vocals. Next time, you need to dance for your life! Check out the performances + her SNL skit after the jump.

i agree with u 100%, i was counting down the hours to see a GREAT SNL but it came off ok, The first song almost killed me, The second was not as bad but not that great either. I hope she spends sometime recording more dance songs bc shes not a “Mariah Carey” kind of singer,
P.S. was it just me or did her spanish accent (in a skit) come off bad as well? i still love her

I like her singing slow songs but I thought she was going to perform a dance track or something more uptempo. I liked the second song for sure.

She Can’t Sing. At All…….
Why give her stage, tv, radio time when we have Jill Scott, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Whitney, Chante Moore, Tamia, Chr. Michelle, SADE, India Aria, Alicia HOMEWRECKER keys.
this woman like Rihanna should be a model or actress and leave singing to SINGERS. She’s a waste of recording space.
but very pretty

I was embarrassed for her, she’s the only entertainer who seems to get worse with time. It may be a good thing she was dropped from her label, she needs some time to regroup so she can come back right. It’s bad when a “professional singer”, wouldn’t last a day on American Idol. But you have to admire her hustle, even though she’s barely talented with singing and acting she did manage to become extremely rich. So you can’t hate her and if people are willing to pay entertainers with no real talent, why shouldn’t she take their money?
Her singing days are pretty much over anyway, because at her age the dancing is pretty much a wrap and with no voice to fall back on she may be in trouble. If she doesn’t want to tarnish her “legacy” her only way to go is stick to Romantic Comedies. She can do those, but no dramas because her acting skills are well, you know.

@ Hmm,
People should waster their time telling her simply singing isn’t her strongest point so she won’t make more messes like these performances.

i dont see the point of this i mean i am haitian and i thought i was a good thing they did it really did help my people in haiti
yes they remake the song i think that’s exacly MJ would do if he was still with us if SNL only understand what wyclef was screaming out in the song they would get the point
i mean am really mad about this and JLO should just quite while she still have a name.

I never heard either of these songs before, but I did like them. I just think that she should let the background singers sing the higher parts of the song and she should take it down to the part of her voice that is not a strain for her (but keep it in key). As for the skit, I must still be the only one in the world who hasn’t seen the remake.
