October 8, 2009 New Music: Mariah Carey – H.A.T.E.U. (So So Def Remix)
UPDATE: A snippet of the “Candy Bling” remix featuring T-Pain has been added after the jump!
I told you all the other day about Mariah releasing Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel as a remix album and now we have the first offering from the project. The remix features OJ Da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, & Big Boi and heavily samples Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo.” I like the fact that the remix is essentially an entirely different song, not just a few added vocals or guest rappers. This way I can love the original and the remix for completely different reasons!

This may have to grow on me, I didn’t like the first 30 seconds but the original H.A.T.E.U. had to grow on me too.

i think this was kinda damned genius as a strategy… the original album is for the fans, so to speak, and the remixes are interesting enough to be strong singles on their own. i think the “my boo” remix of HATEU will be particularly popular ~ it’s a perfect time for a revival of that song ~ but i’m def excited to see what other remixes they came up with.

True true, Mariah’s title should be “The Queen of the Remix” I like it! By the way, did anyone hear about Mariah’s album actually was supposed to be #1 on billboard with 190K? Billboard accidentally gaves 20 000 sales to her song Betcha Gon Know instead of to the album. But I need this confirmed. Anyone else been hearing this??

One more thing. In response to an earlier comment regarding INOJ, I found this on her Wikipedia article. I realize that Wikipedia isn’t a very reliable source, but I thought this was worth posting.

@Mike – That makes perfect sense and I was thinking the same thing!! I haven’t heard anything, but how else does that explain people downloading the “unknown” track listing that is #1 on the album!?!?

I loved My Boo back in the day. I always wanted to hear more music like that but never happened in DC.

I just dont know what to say. The remix is cute but I just can’t believe how poorly the album did first week. Either she’s gonna have to do some MAJOR promo with STELLAR performances or this is going to be her biggest flop ever and the crazy ish is this is one of her BEST albums. I Want To Know What Love Is as the 2nd single is a mistake. Who is picking these singles?! Just like E=MC2 they are picking the wrong singles! Even H.A.T.E.U. is iffy cuz its so slow. Sure fire hits would be Angels Cry, Up Out My Face, Ribbon, etc.

@ Mickey, exactly! And I can’t imagine Betcha Gon Know selling that many downloads when it’s not one of the better songs on the album, I like the song but it’s not the better ones. Billboard is so f*cked up! They robbed Mariah of a #1. They probably won’t even do anything about it because they can’t take Barbara Streisands #1 away from her! Ridiculous!

Mariah Carey is the victim of BAD promotion. IDJ/LA REID continue to promote bad singles, put of videos late or not at all, choose singles and then recall them, and put out something different. They should learn from beyonce/miley/rihanna…they film all their videos and them send them out two at a time, or when a single starts to slip…here’s the next video. Mariah’s single choices should have been like this..
1. Obsessed
2. Standing O (it’s a anthem for the radio and clubs –incredible song and from all the blogs the public loves this song)
3. HATE U and HATEU REMIX
4. It’s a Wrap or Angel’s Cry.
then prepare for the remix CD.
Mariah let Thanks for Nothing fall between the cracks from E=MC2. and now she is letting this happen again.
VOCALS–The lipped various notes which she has to a science is weird to me. WHY? does she do this, she’s suppose to be a REAL singer, even Whitney does not do this. Mariah is better than this. Janet/Madonna/Christina have been playing the lipping stuff for years, sing low parts then track comes in to help. ITS SHADY.

This remix is hot. better than the original song, which I find boring. JS need to shut up a lot though. his get out part is cute and all he should be saying. Big Boi is enough on the rap. This is a hit remix though.
