Love muffins and lambs rejoice! Today, as a part of Oprah’s live Friday concert series, Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform her new single “I Want To Know What Love Is” (which is now available on iTunes, along with pre-order for her album) and she nailed it! I can’t begin to tell you how ecstatic I am to see Mimi on stage singing for her life! She looked absolutely radiant & healthy in a skin tight catsuit with her throwback honey brown curls! Baby, when I tell you Mimi went for those notes, honey she went in! Watch for Oprah’s reaction around the 4:14 mark. Once again Mariah Carey proved that she is one of the greatest voices and artists of our time.

She was ok. She proved that she’s an expert at lip syncing. Oh God Mariah she fools so many people. B you know I luurves you, but you seriously didn’t notice the lipping? The camera panned out when she was “singing” all those high notes so as to make it appear like she was really singing why not zoom in on such a special moment? I’ve been fooled before by Mariah and never will be again. Overall good, but I will never respect an artists for lipping especially on a song like this. If you’re gonna bring it then BRING IT! Oprah’s reaction wasn’t anything special she was probably thinking ummm dear when will you sing live. You want to see a reaction check out her Tuesday reaction…tears!

and Whitney’s performance was a testimonial honey. i think it’d be hard to find ANYONE that wasn’t moved by that. i mean, i didn’t cry……but i thought it was quite the emotional trip. especially if you had listened to the interviews prior to the performance.

Mariah wasn’t lipping. It’s obvious. The first chorus was lipped but the belting and everything was completely live. I was in NYC at the show and she killed it hands down. I was waiting for someone to say something like that.

Yea I sorta think she’s losing her voice. I remember at MJ’s funeral she could not really hit high notes. but maybe she was sick. I don’t know. But I still think she’s great and an inspiration.

I WAS THERE! AND YES SHE NAILED IT AND NO SHE DID NOT LIP SYNCH AT ALL! I was a bit nervous for her because in recent months the performances have been a little off, but I am a true LAMB, and she absolutely killed it! In between segments she was sooo sweet to all of the fans and talked to us like family…I just adore her. She also did an interview with Nick that was really cute and they talked about how he proposed and met, etc. I can’t even tell you what a great day it was!! You just had to be there to experience it. Also, PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR “PRECIOUS”, Lee Daniels is an amazing director and I am so excited to see this movie. Mariah is AMAZING in it and the story is just gut wrenching! Mimi is BAAACCCKKKK!!!

I know this was live, I dont agree with terrence. They camera usually zooms in and out to catch the audience reaction to the great notes. I have no problem admitting if mariah was lipping or not. This time is was all her and I wont say this was the best performance of this song because it isnt. Live from the pearl on 9/12/09 she did the best on this song. But THIS PREFORMANCE WAS GREAT! Poor Whitney fans, I feel for you. Whitney’s voice is a shadow of it’s former self. She stated on Oprah that she didn’t think twice about her actions having an effect on her voice. She practically had to be forced to make a new album. Her heart wasn’t in it, and that sucks for her hardcore fans. If she showed one iota that the music was important to her, I would have rooted for her. That being said, I wish her well. I’m glad she finally cleaned up her act.
Mariah has always been about her music. Writing, producing, arranging. Her passion has always been clear. That is one of the many reasons I admire her so. She wants to make music! She worked hard on Memoirs, and judging from the clips, it is one of her best efforts to date. No one is as hard on her as her lambs, and all of them agree this was LIVE. This performance and her Vegas concerts proved that the voice is there and better than it has been in a while. I can’t wait until Memoirs is released and blows everyone away. Love you MC!

No Whitney slayed at Oprah. There was no need for fake camera tricks or foolery and excuse me but the whole audience was in tears listening to her on Oprah as well as the rest of America. These two women sing from different places and sing VERY different material. They’re both good at what they do no doubt.
Yes Josias MC was wailing away on some parts but I would have LOVED to see her up close wailing away on those high parts at the end, not crowd shots or shots of a tree.
RS I didn’t have to be there to know. I can hear it with my own ears. There is a distinct difference in vocals on the high notes (pre-recorded), but whatever those notes are probably hard to hit LIVE. If she was barely singing the verses alright why in the world would I believe she was singing the high notes live.
Heck I’ll admit Whitney sounded bad on GMA however who wouldn’t after doing a 3 hour interview the night before.

Mariah looked and sounded A..MAZING!!! I love how her and Whitney both have gone back in time to re create their past looks. First Whitney comes out looking like she stepped out of “The Greatest Love of All” video and now Mariah looks like she stepped out of the “Vision of Love” era. I LOVE it! Both of them are two inspirational and talented ladies, and after all these years look absolutely stunning. Mariah did a fantastic job! I’ve listened to that single everyday sometimes over three or four times a day since it’s come out, and I have to say that this performance was not a playback. But ofcourse haters will be there to tear a person down. Why must people say that she’s lipping if she sounds great or close to her recording?? Doese her voice have to crack or mess up during every freak’n performance in order for it to be real?? I mean seriously get over it. There are quite a few artists that can sing note for note what they record in the studio..live..so why hate on Mariah?? Idiots. Anwyay..who cares what you negative people think. Mariah is going to continue to shine regardless. I’m with you B. , she’s incredible..OMG..My eXcitement to meet her would go beyond what those two guys on Oprah were doing..I would’ve been jumping up and down..done a few flips..screamed..cried..etc. This performance was incredible..she looked stunning..what more can I say..come on September 29th!!!!!

People are entitled to their opinion. And I am disappointed by your comment on Twitter, because it was a jab at Whitney B. And you said you wouldn’t comment on people without putting their name in the comment. you might as well have said Whitney. I ghost blog and there are plenty of people I don’t care for but I keep it professional and report on everything. I am not a super fan at either. But this show was taped earlier in the day. Just like Whitney’s was taped the day before. They do that so they can clean it up for TV. If someone doesn’t like Whitney or Mariah then that is their prerogative. Neither one are paying of of our bills.
Mariah was straining and lip syncing. It happens to the best of them. sahe isn’t a saint. No one is. I will critic and praise where it’s needed. They have both had their highs and lows.
And if this comment doesn’t get posted it proves me right.
We can all throw jabs but none of us. B included have reached where either one of these ladies have reached. And none of us will.

Mariah does not have anything to prove anymore as a vocalist, artist, and writer. I am the ultimate fan and I know for a fact that she does pre-record her vocals. I saw her in Vegas this past weekend and some songs were pre-recorded and some were live.
Mariah not only is “The Voice” but she is an AMAZING song writer and the songs she write turn into hits and #1’s. I am waiting for this to become her 19th number one single.
She sung beautifully and I am immensely pleased with her undeniable talent.

She was NOT Lipping. She was clearly STRAINING for her life the only thing she can hit with ease now a days are her whistles. This performance was lackluster at best. I’m a major fan of Mariah and to honor her memory I will not be purchasing this album. To me she stopped with the “Butterfly” album, her best to date.

I don’t think we need to hate on each other, here, calling people “idiots” and such. Opinions are opinions and forums are for the range of them. I feel Mariah sang live, I enjoyed it immensely, and I too don’t feel it’s fair to suggest that any well-done performance of hers had to be fake.
ONE THING THAT MAKES NO SENSE about the above “opinions” is that they seem to suggest the camera cut to the audience for Mariah, as if Mariah had some control of the editing of OPRAH’s show that was LIVE. There was a producer/director/whatever saying “go to camera 1, camera 2, etc” Mariah didn’t have anything to do with that. Seriously, if they were doing those kind of “favors,” they would have panned away for Whitney’s whole performance.
I really enjoy Whitney Houston, I don’t think that her fans or MC fans need to fall prey to the media’s attempts to pit them against each other. At the end of the day, we should all rejoice that real singers are releasing great albums PERIOD – especially in this day and age of ridiculous crap on the radio.
Whitney and Mariah are on the same team, the “good music” team. We should be, too.
I wish the interview was longer, I’ve heard the “spoke it into existence” speech a million times from both of them.

While I was initially unimpressed by the gimmicky “Obsessed” I must say how refreshing it is to see the original Mariah back in the pure form that launched her in to superstardom. The look is very “Vision of Love” and so is the voice. While I am not a “Lamb”, I am so proud of her and so glad to see her so happy. I just pre-ordered the album and am excited to hear the rest. You go Mariah! You have such a gift and I’m so glad to see you use it! Love you!

Mariah looks like a tailor park tragedy. She is looking old. She is desperately trying to appear 20 and it is embarrassing. Whitney is a grown ass woman. She is the definitive voice. Oprah is good friends with Mariah, Patti, and Celine and she said Whitney has always been the one for her. She was one of the first to call her ‘The Voice’. If you prefer Mariahs style and voice that is OK, but don’t fool yourself into thinking she could ever handle Whitney’s vocals. She wispers and goes hoarse. So the HQ cleaned up version sounds better than her RAW footage but neither did anything for me. I always wonder how she sounds like shes got a cold one minute to going into her whistle register, thats just impossible – but leave it to Mariah to defy the odds lol. Icey Im with u, it was just okay for me. I mean listening to her is always gut wrentching for me because you never know what you’re going to get. And some of us Lambs in here are faking it like we dont know Mariah lip sings from time to time. I do hate it when people say her whistle sounded nothing like the studio track how do you explain that, the pure and simple fact of the matter is that gone are the days where Celebs lip sync to a studio track they are not that stupid no one would believe its live as it sounds to much like the Studio, so what these clever little celebs do now is pre record a live vocal that sounds different from the studio track and sounds like it would if they were live and then they lip sync to that track, simple really ……. don’t beleive me mariahs Mic is clearly on when she speaking as she puts it in the stand the wind starts to blow across the mic you can hear it, then suddenly as if by magic when she starts singing although the wind is still blowing the wind noise stops …. was that mic turned off by any chance?? ………….. you decide!!

Yall be fo real…MAriah didnt sound good and she struggled. On top of that, if she was lip singing, then that just makes it that must worse. I hate that the female artist that I grew with, that had the real voices, sound so different now. LONGEVITY! What happen to Gladys Knight’s and Patti Labelle’s? It’s really sad.
