September 3, 2009 New Music: Mariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love Is (Mastered Version) + Single Cover
Last week, Mariah’s 2nd single “I Want To Know What Love Is” leaked in poor sound quality. Today the final, mastered version of the song hit the net. There aren’t any major differences, however the song as a whole sounds a lot better. You can really hear the vocal details and things of that nature that really make the song great.

omg im such a mimi stan and i have a feeling she will be redeeming herself after her mishap at mj’s funeral( it breaks my heart to write this) i mean in the 20 sum years mimi has been in the game i can count on one hand the few off performances she has had and after the mess that was whitney gma performance i think mariah will sail through her set on oprah and maintain her reign as the most successful female recording artist in history sorry whitney stans its true. Although i love whitney and her album is solid its safe and i feel the much hyped voice is gone but mariah has alway been consistant wether its been her albums or her performances spread your wings and fly mimi for you are an imperfect angel

I totally agree with you about ballads not selling. I’m glad she’s giving the “kids” what they want but this is not a radio hit which actually doesn’t bother me at all. It should make people think that Mariah is actually listening to her fans and is making an album for herself and not necessarily just to get another #1. You know?

I must admit I was not a fan of the version posted earlier this week. But this..this is just beautiful. I now know why she chose to use the whisper voice in some areas to translate the vulnerability of the song’s introspective message. I apologize Mariah and can’t wait to buy and hear your Memoirs.

What a horrible arrangement. I know the whispering is her thing, but just not on this kind of song. I really felt uninspired tbo. What happened with the ending?
You want a song that’s inspiring…go listen Whitney Houston’s I Look to You. A simple song but so emotional and uplifting. No need for choirs and hand clapping or nonsensical riffs and adlibs. Just The Voice and a piano/strings. Can’t wait for her 1at video to premiere Sept. 10th!

Typical Mariah song. Start off overly whispery, then leads up to a full whiney voice with of course re-take after re-take of the high pitch screech note which people seem to think Mariah is the originator of. Did we dismiss Minnie Riperton? I think Mariah’s self centeredness over the years was proven when she had the nervous breakdown over being dismissed from her record label (30 million dollar severance pay of course) She couldn’t handle the rejection. So then she resurface with Emancipation of Mimi. What is she emancipating from? Even the next album title displays her tremendous ego, which is no longer supported by her vocal abilities. Whitney returns after real drama, and titles her album with deference to her fans and public. Mariah would have clearly called the album… I Look To Mimi. Case scenerio on American Idol. Contestants singing I LOOK TO YOU. Very much likely to happen. Contestantants singing Obsessed, and I Wanna Know What Love Is. Highly unlikely. To the point… Whitney yesterday, and Whitney today still setting musical standards.

Mariah Carey did a great job with this song. I absolutely loved it! I love the variety of music styles she’s adding on her album. I am soooo going to buy it! CAN’T WAIT!! I am soo going to her concert in Oct. I don’t care how much it costs, she’s my idol and a legend. It cannot be denied. 5octave voice, dominates the charts with hits, 18 to be exact! SHE IS A-MA-ZING!
