August 14, 2009 Album Preview: Whitney Houston – I Look To You
Amazon has just released 30 second previews of each track from Whitney Houston’s I Look To You album. I must say that so far it’s sounding like a pretty solid album, but I’ll save my judgements for when I can listen to the whole thing. I’m still waiting to hear that super duper powerful vocal though. Hopefully it’s hidden somewhere within the 12 tracks.

I Loves it Bscott. U be on it. Whitney is Ready. I must admit that’s the only thing I am missing to “I want to her that lovely power ballad – where Whitney hits the highest note she can at 46.”
But if that doesn’t happen. I know Whitney brought her “A” game cause those 30 sec snippets are “FIRE”

B Scott.. I’ll say it again. “I Look To You’ is like Michael Jordan after he un-retired and came back to basketball wearing number 45. We’re glad to see him not playing baseball anymore, cause that was just too painful to watch, he has some bits of his old greatness, but still lacking a bit. Something is off, and we’re not used to seeing him in the number 45. But give him that season or two and he’ll be back in the number 23. Better than ever, and taking his team to another 3 championships on his back and solidifying his place as the greatest of all time! Trust.. Write it down. Set your clock by it!

This is a cd you can play all the way through and LOVE all of the songs! I hear Nothin But Love and A Song for You really show her vocals so there you go lol.

WOWSERS! The ‘Supreme’ Diva is REALLY back. I thought Million Dollar Bill was/is the shit but now after hearing some of these little snippets of other songs, I really think she has something for everyone with this album. Its sounds crisp and current and very 2009 without trying too hard. Voice is on point. What more could anyone ask for?
Loves it and will be buying come Aug. 31st!

NOthing great..but something I’d definently play on a long road trip. Her voice has lost the substance it use to have..it’s just not doing it for me at all. But I’ll still buy it cause I still like the sound of her voice and the music seems kinda hoT but im not overjoyed or amped.

Yeah I agree with Lee. There were some songs that caught my ear but that was mainly because of the beat and the manipulation of the track. I listen to her voice now and think of how she sounded back when My Love Is Your Love was out, and I just get sad.
By the way, if the album comes out August 31, why is Amazon saying October 19th for the album release?

Its amazing how many people are making JUDGEMENTS before even hearing the entire songs LOL. Like wow. For real tho? I for one am going to buy this album it sounds hot. Yeah her voice has changed but shes still singing circles around the MAJORITY of the these so called R&B chicks. U cant deny Ms. Houston SHE IS THE VOICE .

its sooo funny when I listened to the MLIYL album, I don’t hear much high notes throughout the songs. Barely. Maybe one of two but she hasn’t been doing high notes in the past 10 years. People expect her to ditch and divorce Bobby, get off drugs and then sound like she did in 1993. How is that so? She still can sing and she is healthy, happy and beautiful. People should lower their expectations for Whitney, vocally. I think she sounds good. This is it so get use to it and enjoy the bangin’ beats.

Auto-Tuned? How so? Someone doesn’t know what auto-tuned is. Think T-Pain, Kanye West, and recently Mariah Carey that’s Auto-Tune. Even without drugs, Whitney couldn’t be the same powerhouse vocalist after soooo many years of belting and singing. A Lamborghini 20yrs ago isn’t gonna maintain the horsepower it once have. But still Lamborghini means classic, and so enough said about Whitney Houston. CLASSIC!!!!!

Whitney brought her A game and she sounds good, strong, contemporary and like she is not trying to be 20. I can tell that some here have never listened to MLIYL because if you truly did, you would know that that cd doesn’t have much highnotes either, lol at the haters.
How can you guys expect her to sound like her debut or the BG, that is messed up. She sounds as good or almost as good as MLIY- go listen to Until you come back to me, I bow out, I was made to love him and definitely ‘Oh Yes’ and then come back and talk ish that she doesn’t sound the same nd i’ll say you are not a true whitney fan as MLIYL is stylistically almost the same.
What she did with this album is silenced the critics who said that she had lost her voice completely and now we know that is a bunch of crock. With her living a healthier lifestyle, I only expect her voice to continue to improve.
In any event, support our diva as she is one of the few that we have left and to the poster above, NONE of the tracks have autotune that i could hear!

So this is my synopsis on “I look to you”. I AM IN LOVE with almost every snippet. Every song sounds fresh and straight up RnB. I cant judge her voice or if shes using her high notes because its only 30 seconds. But i will say that, no matter if shes belting or not; this cd is going to be in my cd changer on 8/31/09. I would list my favorite snippets but Im feeling them all. Clive,Whitney,R.Kelly,Alicia—-and one or two tracks sound Ne-yo produced???anyway great job on penning great tracks and producing future hits. Now 9/29/09 Mariah returns with “Memoirs” . Its time for divas to shut it down. xoxo
