August 5, 2009 Jam It? Or Slam It? Eve – Me N My (Up In The Club)
Okay muffins, I really need some feedback on this one. A few days ago a new Eve track called “Me N My (Up In The Club” surfaced that’s believed to be included on her forever delayed Flirt album (which is due out later in the year). She said herself that the album would be different, but to use the term ‘different’ to describe this track would be an understatement! Eve went in an entirely new direction with this song and I’m not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I can’t stop playing it & on the other hand, the song is so bizarre I can’t exactly get into it the way I want to. It doesn’t really have definitive verses nor does it have a definitive hook, thanks to production from Salaam Remi and Benga da Afro Warrior. The song is just kinda all over the place. I applaud Eve for stepping outside the box, but I think need something just a little more urban from her.
Help me out muffins, do we jam it? Or slam it?

Hmmm I dont know LoveMuffins lol this song is kinda hot – sounds a little unfinished – but its hot. I can hear the verses vs the hook fine… this shit is very different for her but once I got into it she was eatin that beat – only talent can do that. Welcome back E. V. E.

I say slam that version and hurry up and create a remix. I know what she was attempting to do but she needed a little bit more flow. I like the beat cause I like house music, and her voice always sounds pretty good, but shit I like Hold my Ponytail better than that track I just heard. I find myself walking throught the store like “Bitch hold my ponytail” I can’t see myself repeating……Damn what was that she was saying? See forgotten already.

The beat is so hypnotic that I think I`m listening to that instead of what Eve is saying.
I applaud her for stepping out of the box too, but it doesn`t fit her.
I want the old “Blow Ya Mind” Eve back.
& personally I think we need to see more of her. I remember when she was killin it w/ her style.
C`mon Eve. We need you back!

I think she should stick to acting. Leave rapping alone. But that’s just me!

I say jam it. what the fck. just cuz it’s “EVE” doesn’t mean it has to sound a certain way, musicians should always reinvent themselves, that’s what’s kept mimi in the biz so long, ppl like the late gr8 MJ who could sing r&b then go to a rock vybe then do some ballad type shit. y should they have to conform. u kno B, if u said this was fergie’s new shit everyone would b all up on it. talkin about it’s garbage when they have been all up on other SERIOUS garbage music that was posted up on here. but they all want eve in a box. oye ve! it’s a nice tune to party to. i say it’s a pass.

oh and another thing. it IS like B. Scott’s “bitch hold my pony tail” and u guys commented on that track like “yeah B, work” and all that drama and now saying that eve’s song is repetitive! ha! B, i love u, but all u said in that song was basically “bitch hold my pony tail”. so all yuh frontin on some ISH!

I actually can not believe that while recording this song, and doing playbacks on this song…that not ONE person…Not Eve, not a producer, not a manager, not a sound mixer NOT ONE PERSON SAID “Hold up…wtf is this exactly?” I love Eve, and previous music she has releashed. Unfortunatly I can NOT say the same for this song. PLEASE THIS IS A SLAM! Its just a mess…you can’t even catch a beat to groove to with this song. DAMN SLAM THANK YOU MA’AM!

mmh. i cant do it. its nice to see she’s trying different things but this just isnt a good look for her. so unless she’s planning on doing a vouging soundtrack she just needs to stay put.

I think she really wanted to do the house direction, she could have gone all they way out and added more layers and more experimentation, but it sounds to repetitive for a radio song. this is a house dance song. . maube I will like it next time I try E.

it’s off the hook…love the beat, kinda euro, kinda dance along with the rap/hip hop roots. way to go…mix all the flavors of music. Jam it!!!
B!! Eve killed it!!
I have to admit that the song will not be radio friendly. It just won’t be appreciated. Well not in the US anyway.

This is Hot – I’m hearing M.I.A. -Mya’s Rich Bitch- Rye Rye- Lady Gaga – and a vogueing beat!
This is brave – I hope this was eves idea not some producer.
I have respect for Eve making this.
I can already hear it at the club!!!

I love eve and own all her 3 albums, but this I would have to go with Slam It. She should go back to the urban, more gritty sounds that she’s known for. But I give her props for trying something different.

actually love muffins.. there is a clear verse and hook. They could add a stronger base line and maybe some chords through out. but this is on some M.I.A( Paper Planes ) type world music stuff. Its got a bvery tribal meets electronic fee

…what’s the big controversy? BEP can do techno rap pop and Eve can’t? Whatever, she’s just attempting to be into the pulse of the moment espcially since cd’s don’t sell big anymore and hip-hop has been in the mainstream so long that many of the vets are trying to redefine themselves…can’t blame a bitch for trying, BOOM BOOM POW…!

Was she going for a housie version of “put ya hands where my eyes can see?” Rap wise she had a Back-In-the-Day-Busta moment , i think. Tribal meets electro is on the mark, but i think they could have tweaked some things here and there to keep the listener wrapped in the beat. I’m sure one house dj or another will make a bomb ass remix though.
All in all, JAM IT. Dare to be different, but only if you can listen to it more than once.

I think with a banging video it could be a hit especially in the more techno clubs! I like it a lil… and it may not be finished she needs to throw a dude on there like drake or someone with major cross over appeal

I’m confused. What is she talking about? Really. Eve is losing it. I used to really enjoy her music back in the day, but now….UGH!! I mean, who is she referring to when she says, “I never knew a B#$*@ like you could dance”? Sounds kind of gay to me. I don’t know. Sorry, but that was so lame. Next…
