July 24, 2009 New Music: Whitney Houston – I Look To You
UPDATE: HQ version added!
Fresh off of Whitney’s album release party comes a new track entitled “I Look To You”. The sound quality isn’t that great (it’s similar to the snippet that’s been floating around), but Whitney sounds amazing. I’d be a fool to think her voice is the same as it used to be, but with that said she can still sing circles around a lot of todays R&B females.
Check out the track below and let me know what you think!

Just heard this song on v103 and omg, chills. I love it. she sounds great and how she emotes the song makes up for any differences earlier. No one and I mean no one on the radio is singing like this.
Welcome back Ms. Houston. ‘touched my heart…chills…chills I say

Nobody can take her talent away. This woman still has the most beautiful tone and control. Whitney Houston is a REAL singer, a Legend and her single tells her story!

Love love love it. I’m so glad Whitney is back. Even with the diminished capacity of her voice its STILL better than 95% of the R&B females out here now

I ain’t mad at it. I’m just wanting to hear a more dramatic power ballad. This and the ‘Strength’ ballad are teasing me. But I do prefer this instead of something too youthful. That just wouldn’t be a good look IMO. She is adult contemporary and should stay in that lane. I’m trusting Clive with this.

TOTALLY BACK! Head voice, chest voice, falsetto – everything is there and the transition is amazing. This is going to be her next #1. Everyone at the new York listening party was in TEARS when they heard this.

Okay, so im listening and im liking what i’m hearing. It’s so much better than “I didn’t know my own strength” vocally. However I was listening to this song waiting for something grand and didn’t get it. I waited and waited for the bridge..and waited for this so called “power balladeer” and umm…she stayed safe and didn’t display any power in this song. Lots of lovely notes but nothing spectacular from her. She sang more powerful on “Just Whitney” in the song “You Light Up My Life”. This was hyped up too much and I’m not impressed..neXt.

This is quite an anthem. Every radio station need to play this at the top of every hour. We are in a recession and need some encouragement! The First Lady of R&B is back STRONG!!! I Look to You is a shoe-in for a GRAMMY AWARD and I cannot wait to see and hear her perform this live on Good Morning America in September!

In Jason words, Whitney is back! This is a directional song, just beautiful. The words are on target. It’s going to lift up people who are going through something. This song is inspirational for us all. I want buy this CD now. We know the more Whitney sang the better her voice will get. Its nice to hear a voice and not auto-tunes..and there are moments that remind you of her being of a different caliber than other pop stars. Still there is a WOW moment that is lacking..maybe its just where Whitney is at..hard not to project a safe approach on her. One other thing–between this photo (didnt totally recognize her at first) and a few moments here–you could almost convince me I was listening to Patti LaBelle,

i actually thought in some parts there WAS a slight auto tune. I’m not hating folks, but it did seem as if she held back, or couldn’t go as far as she would have back in the day. Plus she’s gone back to her pre-Bobby Brown days with this track.
Overall i like this track though. She still knocks em out the box

I think its safe to say THE VOICE has returned. Theres no one who can convey a message in a song like Whitney Im sorry. I will admit I am a HUGE Whitney fan and I didnt like it at first I wanted that big dramatic finish but after hearing the demo and listening to Whit talk about how R.Kelly wanted the record I get it now. Aside from the fact she sounds a lot better than she has in the last 5-6yrs Im just so proud of her. No AUTOTUNE… No useless over dubs just her and the mic back in love … WELCOME BACK WHITNEY WE CLEARLY MISSED YOU – You have the MOST ANTICIPATED album of the year

She’s a diva!!!! Whitney still has the ability to touch us ALL through her music with her beautiful voice!!!
There’s nothing worse than a partner who drags one down so low, but there’s nothing better when one can kick a bad partner to the curb and move on and succeed with LIFE – overcoming obstacles – that in time make us ALL stronger and better for having experienced our lows in life.
This is real life – you HAVE to give her props!!!! She’s still beautiful, she’s still can sing amazingly, and she’s STILL STANDING – STRONG!!!!!!!
Love you Whitney!!!!!
Can’t wait to see you in New York!!!!
Thanks to you Clive for bringing Whitney back to us – it’s been a long 7 years with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are dancers, actors, and singers. Then God created Whitney. A name deserving of it’s own definition. We shall all watch as this woman take her seat back on the throne. We lost the king of POP! Let’s celebrate the Queen returned and do what music has lost over the years….TALENT!!!

There is absolutely only one Whitney Houston! She is a 6x Grammy winner, 2x Emmy winner, 21 AMA winner, the only arist to have 7 consecutive number 1’s, and she is the FIRST female artist to debut at number 1 on the Billboard charts with WHITNEY. After listening to this song I realized why she is the “most awarded female singer in history” according to the Guiness Book of World Records! Whitney will have more awards to add to her mantle after her cd drops! Welcome back Nippy! You were missed!

After losing Michael it really makes you appreciate your artist for their art and not pay as much attention to their personal struggles, because at the end of the day we all have them and let the first without pass judgement. Whitney in my opinion is what vocally all new female singing talent is measured against. Her tone, inflection, her pitch is near perfection. This album was welllllllll worth the wait. I can’t wait. I’m glad that it’s Whitney and she didn’t try to come back trying to jump on to whatever trend was out there. I can’t wait to grab this cd. I will be in line.

Whitney Houston! You better sang woman! This song is golden! Very much worth the wait! This was my first time hearing this one. What a beautiful thing to wake up to. THIS is what music and art is all about. I’m glad Whitney could bring back something this classically sounding, elegant and graceful.

Give Mariah a pole, and give Whitney a mic, and let them do their own thing. Whitney set the standards high so long ago, that it’s inevitable that now, only she could only be compared against herself. I’m happy that she is alive and able to enjoy her comeback. Let us not forget Michael. I realized music had died when the likes of Luther, Pattie, Anita, and so forth could no longer score a top 40 hit only to be replaced by manequinns and studio gimmicks. Behind the mic, these artificials performers huff and puff and maybe successfully could blow a deck of cards house down. Check your forecast on Sept 1st. The real storm is coming and she is gonna clean up the mess the music industry have been feeding us over the years. Sometime we need the hurricane to hit , so we can rebuild again. Whitney is alive and she will sing her autobiography. We are gonna hear it from the source herself versus a paid “actress” telling the story long after the artist’s met their trafic end. Time to stop feeding into negative stories and allow positive ones to enlightened us. “if we gonna make the world, a better place, take a look inside ouselves and make a change” someone famous sung this. Do we remember who? WHITNEY! WE LOOK TO YOU, to bring us back real music.

Whitney,
I am so greatful that you have decided to become a vision of hope. Yesterday, life was gloomy. Today, you view life through the lens of hope and change. Then Senator Barack Obama based his presiential election campaign on hope and change. It has shown to have worked wonders for the president, and it’s doing the same for you. I love much….welcome back!!!

Whitney Houston, my beautiful sister, what a heartfelt song and well received. The first time I heard it I recognized your voice. You have a gift from God that He can use to influence somebody, somewhere, that He is able to bring you out and through any storm and difficulty because He did it for you. That’s your testimony. I’m so so so proud of you. Keep the faith and looking up.

What a beautiful song. I heard it just the other night and did not know it was a new song by Whitney. It’s a song that you can share and enjoy with your significant other as well as giving praises to the God. Ladies what a wonderful surprise it would be to learn this song and share it with your loved one over a candle light dinner, “I Look to You”. A beautiful wedding song this would be as the bride comes down the isle, and as I said giving praises to God as I have had to do so many times over the last 3 years through my son’s murder and my health, I looked to God. Thank you Whitney and God bless.
