July 23, 2009 Solange Knowles Shaves Her Head!
Could Solange be the latest celebrity caught trying to pull a “Cassie” or maybe more of an “Amber Rose” or does she just want to be a carefree “natural” girl? It doesn’t look too bad, but it’s going to take some getting used to. I do wonder why nobody caught on when India.Arie and Erykah Badu shaved their heads a few years back.

This is different for Solange, I feel like now she’s trying to be so different that it is becoming the norm. I think that her talent should get her noticed more than her new hair cut, her album was great and didn’t get the respect it was due for the fact that people don’t stand up and take notice of her as much as they do her big sister. I hope that this is just an experiment and that she won’t start altering her look just to get people to notice!

I don’t think she’s really following a trend this time. Sure she shaved her head but neither cassie, rihanna, or carmen electra are completely bald. I think she was just doing her especially since she’s had short hair like this before.

I don’t think she is necessarily following a “trend”. India cut her hair years back for spiritual purposes, as i understand it. Solange could be going through a deep change. India cuts it off it’s “earthie” >>Britney Spears cuts it off she’s “crazy”.>> &Cassie a trend setter??!!

Love, love Solange, but I don’t know about this. She is soooo young, and this cut ages her tremedously. She looks 30ish, and if I recall correctly, she just turned 21. I’m all about expressing yourself, so if this is what she was feeling, then two thumbs up to her on making a very brave choice. She can always throw on a lacefront like her big sister if needed.

i don’t think she’s following the “Cassie” trend. cassie and LaLa just shaved the sides of their hair. Solange completely cut it all off…and frankly, if you’re gonna make a statement of complete freedom and individuality, cutting it all off is definitely the way to go. Kudos to Solange!!!

I dont think Solange is following anybodies trend. Its summertime its hot and everybodies thought of shaving their head once or twice when they just couldnt seem to get it right. Just because she cuts her hair off, it automatically means she wants attention? Don’t think so. Like other people said, she could be going natural, just wanted a change, or both. I don’t completely like it in these pics, but if she fixed the edges (more even, definite line) and accessorized a lil more, she could make it work. Plus the camera angles aren’t that great either.

Where do I begin?? Well for one thing… She doesn’t look bad. I think it’s great she is embracing her Inner African Americaness Princess. I like it. When I went natural I did the same thing, I cut it down way short, now it’s down to the middle of my back…I think a lot of Black people are gonna go back to their roots. I’m also glad Rhi Rhi ditched the weave… Beyonce’s look is a bit out dated… PLUS Solonge has a BEEEEUATIFUL FACE!
Also she is probably trying to grow it out and start over again with her own hair. I think it;s great, becasue Black women don’t need weaves or wigs. I think they are silly looking. HOWEVER right now Beyonce is probably TRIPPEEEEN!! singing… You must done lost yo motherf-ing mind!!

I saw pictures years ago when she was pregnant and her hair was cut close then too, and honestly her hair was probably only 5 inches long anyway so She didn’t do a cassie and cut off 2 feet of hair. She’s been wearing a weave so we don’t know her real length. I don’t believe she did it for attention like Britney Spears or Cassie because she’s done it before when she wasn’t in the spotlight. She marches to the beat of her own drum and says “F”-it! to all the haters. It looks fine to me. It’s natural. Stop hatin’ on her because she’s bold and not ashamed as a BLACK WOMAN to show her beauty au naturale, napps and all.

We don’t know why she cut all of her hair off. I have long hair down to my bra and I’ve been trying to get someone to cut it off because I don’t want chemicals anymore. When most people see black women with long her they don’t want to cut it off, I’ve had several to refuse to cut it off. I’m sure when I do i’ll face the same nasty comments from others also.

First of all I would like to say that I like her hair very much and it does fit her. I am totally embarassed that must of the negative comments about her hair has come from black people. Just because they have gotten away from their natural beauty that God blessed them with. I shaved my head too about 5 months ago because I wanted to embrace my natural beauty as a black woman and I vowed never to get wrapped up in what other races told us years ago was considered ugly. I am a light skinned black woman and now I am rocking a nice natural in Mississippi and whats funny I have had just as many white men tell me they like it as I have black men and my husband said its about time that you rocked your natural texture of hair. Solange you look beautiful and it gets better with growth…trust me. I have nothing against sisters that wear weaves and chemicals because its what ever makes you happy but please dont knock sisters like Solange, Myself, Angie Stone, Lauryn Hill, Erica B, because we choose to be natural. I love my natural and I even pick out my curls so it would look like a fro. What happen to the seventies when blacks were stuck on being black.
