July 1, 2009 New Music: Shakira & Nelly Furtado!
Latin ladies Shakira and Nelly Furtado are both gearing up to release new studio albums later this year. Shakira’s as-yet untitled album is reportedly due out in October and is rumored to feature contribution from super producers Pharrell Williams and Red One. “Loba (She Wolf)” is the lead single and in my opinion it sounds absolutely amazing. The 70s disco-inspired track is a new direction for Shakira, but she manages to retain her signature sound and unique vocals. I also like the fact that it’s been released in Spanish. According to fan forums, the Spanish as well as the English version will be available on iTunes July 14th!
Check out “Loba” below and let me know what you think!

Hit the jump for new music from Nelly Furtado!
Nelly is currently finishing up not one, but two new albums! This song, “Manos Al Aire” (Hands in the Air) is the lead single off of her upcoming Spanish language album entitled Mi Plan (My Plan) which is due out this fall. There isn’t much word on her other album other than the fact that all of the songs are in Portuguese. Kudos to Nelly (and Shakira) for staying true to their roots and delivering quality music for their fans abroad! “Manos Al Aire” sounds more like Nelly’s older material, but that’s not a bad thing at all. This definitely has a more organic, folkloric sound, while still maintaining a pop edge.

Hmm while I like the Nelly Furtado song, I really prefer as a R&B/Hip Hop artist. The “Loose” album was SICK!!!

I love Nelly’s single Manos Al Aire. Beautiful woman with a beautiful song. Cannot wait for the video to come out.
I also recently found out she has a brand new (official) fan website:

Let me start by saying that for this song, my opinion may be a little biased. I’ll explain. I’m a huge fan of both of these artists. Honestly, the song gets one and a half stars, but since it’s Shakira and Nelly, I’ll give it three plus a smiley face.
