June 27, 2009 New Music: Jeremih – Jeremih
Jeremih, also known as Mr. Birthday Sex is ready to drop his debut album via Def Jam next week. The lead single, “Birthday Sex” has swept the nation reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. It took a while for the song to grow on me, but after hearing it all over the radio I love it! I’m not sure sure about the rest of the album though. It has good moments, but if you’re looking for substance this is not the album for you. Despite the lack of lyrical substance in this album, Jeremih is indeed talented.

The song sucks. I tried to listen to the whole thing, but couldn’t. It’s sounds like Bobby Valentino to me. I smell a one hit wonder if that’s his next song.

All of these young R&B singers sound the same to me. Someone needs to try and be original. We already have Chris Brown, Mario, Omarion, Ginuwine (is trying to come back…yeah…okay), Joe, Maxwell (THE GREATEST), Anthony Hamilton, Lloyd, Lyfe Jennings…just to name a few. Somebody needs to tell these new artists, that if they don’t want to just fall by the wayside, they need to come colorful and vibrant and most importantly, fresh.
