TheMan, if sales and #1’s don’t measure relevance then what does? If my memory serves me correctly is has been around a decade since Whitney has had a hit on the radio. If i told my baby cousin Whitney Houston has an album coming out he would say who is Whitney Houston? If I played him a Mariah song he would say “my mommy and daddy like this too”. Whitney is a great singer, but it would be hard to argue that she is relevant in 2009 because there are not a lot people checking for Whitney Houston. The last thing i remember her doing was the “Being Bobby Brown” Show!!!

I love this more and more with each listen. Mariah is unstoppable. She is in a league of her own. This is the music that is selling now. What was the last ballad that was #1? I just looked on wikipedia and the last balled to be #1 was “Take A Bow” by Rihanna and that was in May of last year and “Bleeding Love” was the only other #1 ballad of that year.
