June 7, 2009 Air France: Bodies Found In Atlantic

Update: A total of 17 bodies have been found thus far in the warm water off the northeast coast of Brazil.
The bodies of two men confirmed to be passengers on ill-fated Air France flight 447 bound for Paris from Rio De Janeiro were found. The bodies were discovered along with several items from the airplane itself, and will be transported to Brazil for forensic investigation. Also discovered Saturday were a backpack and a leather briefcase containing an airplane ticket with a reservation code, which Air France confirmed belonged to a passenger on the jet.
It is now known that the airline failed to replace a part on the airplane, as recommended by French manufacturer, Airbus. Airbus advised the airline to have the Pitot tubes replaced, mechanisms that monitor air speed. The replacement was not mandatory.
The aircraft 228 passengers sent out 24 error messages before vanishing. The error messages convey that the Airbus might have been flying too slow or too fast in the stormy weather it encountered. Investigators have also said that the autopilot was disconnected, cabin pressure was lost and there was some sort of electrical failure before the plane disappeared. Debris discovered was determined not to belong to the doomed jet.
It’s still not known how the aircraft entered the water. The depth of the Atlantic in the area the plane is extremely deep, and the currents in the area very strong. The plane disappeared right where the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge, bringing together warmer air with cooler air, creating some of the world’s nastiest storms and currents.

starstruckedsam your mom is going to be fine
I, too, was afraid of flying and I was about to have a panic attack before I got on my first plane to Germany in 2000. I was sitting there about to board feeling nervous wanting to run but when I was walking down the boarding area I heard the jazz music playing on the plane, it really calmed me down. Your mom is going to be fine love muffin
