As we near Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), the next generation iPhone rumors keep a-flyin’. Here are the latest specs to be “released” (after the jump), in addition to the ones previously reported. I also touch upon the release of Palm’s highly-anticipated Pre for use on the Sprint network, and share some images of the Blackberry Storm 2 for Verizon that may excite some.

Over in Sprint land, the nation’s fourth-largest carrier has confirmed that the much-anticipated Palm Pre will go on sale nationwide June 6th. Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, and certain Wal-Mart stores will begin selling the smartphone for $200 with a two-year agreement. The Pre will require an Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan as the device is data-intensive, getting its high-speed chops via Sprint’s 3G network.

Fueling the fire in the Verizon rumor mill, images of the supposed new Blackberry Storm 2 have surfaced. What’s even more bewildering is that these rumors claim the device is set for release as early as next month, or possibly July. How vague. Lol. The Storm 2 apparently does away with the clickscreen from the current version for something called TruePress, opts for a thinner and more streamlined casing, and throws in WiFi to make it that much more solid. Sometimes practice makes perfect.

iPhone 3: Of note to me is the 1.5 times better battery life – I have friends who have to charge their iPhone two to three times a day just to keep it going. If the new OLED screen is to be believed, this will be a big improvement over the current screen – crisper, brighter images all while conserving battery life. The supposed sleeker body will be welcome, as well as the matte back which will prevent slippage and that oil slick that happens when you hold the phone forever.

Rumored iPhone 3 Specs:

32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
$199 and $299 price points to be maintained
3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
Video-recording and editing capabilities
Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
OLED screen
1.5 times the battery life of the current models
Double the RAM and processing power
Built-in FM transmitter
Apple logo on back will glow
Rubber-tread backing
Sleeker design
Built-in compass
The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
Turn-by-turn directions
