May 18, 2009 Rapper Dolla Murdered At Beverly Center
According to several of our sources rapper Roderick Anthony Burton II (born November 25, 1987) better known by his stage name Dolla, was fatally shot at the entrance to the Beverly Center mall this afternoon, and police were searching for two suspects. Our sources close to the situation believe the shooting stemmed from an initial altercation in Atlanta, GA. No official word has been confirmed on the motive.
The shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. at the La Cienega Boulevard entrance to the popular Westside shopping center. All entrances and exits to the popular Westside shopping mall were sealed off as police swarmed the scene. LAPD officials said that officers were sent to the mall on a report of a group fight, possibly involving a knife. LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump said two suspects ran in the direction of Beverly Hills. At a Chipotle restaurant in the mall, several people were eating when the shots rang out. “The customers were yelling ‘close the store, close the store, because somebody is shooting,’ ” said Elsa Hernandez, general manager of the restaurant. An employee who was behind the restaurant, near the mall’s valet parking service, saw the tail end of the dispute, Hernandez said. “He saw a lady … shooting a handgun,” Hernandez said. latimes.com

[Updated at 5:40 p.m.: The arrested suspect, who fled from the mall in a silver Mercedes, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport while trying to board a flight. Police said the shooting took place in the valet waiting area of the mall].

This is so sad to hear. I pray that they get to the bottom of what happened. It seems as if this young man had much life and success ahead of him. God bless him and his family at this tragic time.

It’s very sad. He actually posted a comment on his myspace at 3:21 pm May 18th before he was murdered. The press information given out says he was shot sometime after 3 pm, which means shortly after his post on myspace. He was going places! I’m finding such a hard time trying to understand why this stuff happens to such good people. He was a Father figure to his Niece and Nephew. He was a good hearted person obviously. He did not deserve this. I PRAY that they release what he has completed on his album so far, if he has completed enough. It was his dream, therefore, it should be completed for him, Family and fans. God had a reason for his being here and he gave joy to all of us with his music for the short time that we were blessed with him. His life should not have been taken away. He was gonna be big. That man had true talent. My thoughts and prayers are with his Family and Friends at this difficult time. God bless you all and may he rest in peace and always remembered.

I am still in shock ): I knew him personally, his life was cut short and its not right nor is it fair! I truely pray for the day we stop kiling one another. Its like some don’t even value someone else life because they dont value their own. My heart aches for his family and friends. Unfortunately this kind of stuff has been going on for years and we all need to let this be another lesson and step up and do something about it because i dont know about you guys but i cant take another funeral. Where do we start? If everyone in the world starts by stopping all forms of violence they have within… I mean from taking your pride out of the window and just walking away….and just being a light to anyone that may cross our path all the way to greeting and embracing one another with your presence. I know its hard for some people, maybe because some can allow their past to determine their future, but the least you can do is give it a try! This is BS and its WAK! IT must end!
