April 7, 2009 Tar Heels Capture 2009 NCAA Champions

North Carolina (my alma mater) set first-half records for points and the biggest lead in an NCAA championship game, pulling away to a 89-72 victory over Michigan State on Monday night. Wayne Ellington was 7-for-9 from the field in the first half, including making all three of his 3-point attempts, and had 15 points for UNC, which shot 54.8 percent in the half. Congratulations!

Doesn’t it feel good to be an UNC alumnus today. We are so blessed to have had the privilege to call UNC our school.

I was at the Dean Dome last night, and the energy was electric! The pilgrimage to Franklin Street was magical, with the sea of blue and white making the trek. I am sooo glad to be a Tar Heel right now (c/o ‘09 stand up!)!

MSU had no chance in this game. It was a repeat of what they did to them earlier in the year except they took their foot off the petal to make it respectable for MSU. Didn’t want to make a fool of them in the championship game. Better luck next time!
