April 6, 2009 Box Office: ‘Fast & Furious’ Explodes
Summer may just be here, y’all. Well, at least in terms of the U.S. box office. In the year’s biggest surprise thus far (and what may be the biggest surprise in a while), Fast & Furious has opened at number one at the North American box office with $72.5 million in receipts. Now, this number breaks all kinds of records – let me just break it down for you:
- Best April opening ever, beating Anger Management’s $42.2 million.
- Best Universal Pictures opening ever (three-day), beating The Lost World: Jurassic Park’s $72.1 million.
- Best F&F franchise opening ever, beating 2 Fast 2 Furious’ $50.5 million.
- Best opening yet in 2009, easily beating the bows of the more-buzzed-about Monsters vs. Aliens ($59.3 million) and Watchmen ($55.2 million).
- Best opening ever for stars Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster, as well as for director Justin Lin.
- Best opening ever for a car-themed movie! (Beating Cars’ $60.1 million.

Industry experts projected the Vin Diesel-driven film to open with just half that. The film rated well at box office exit polls, scoring an A- average. This may be one film we all have to check out, love muffins.
Coming in at number two was Reese Witherspoon’s Monsters Vs. Aliens with $33.5 million. The number three slot was held by The Haunting In Connecticut with $9.6 million, and Knowing earning $8.1 million – good for number four. Rounding out the top five this weekend is a funny one – I Love You, Man, a flick I caught this weekend and recommend. Rashida Jones is too cute!

OOOOHHH!! Vin Diesel was so damn fine in this movie, when he started speaking spanish, I damn near had an accident, lol!! AND the movie was filmed in my mother country DR!! Vin taopped into his Dominican roots in this movie, very proud of him!!

This movie was sooo GOOD! within the first 5 minutes I was loving it! And yes VIN DIESEL looks DAAAAAAYYYYUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMM SEXY

omg; that movie was EXTRA BEAST<3
there were alot of hot make-out (they changed scenes as it started getting juicy) scenes and omg. it was great;D

i saw this movie and it was fantastic for what it was! Vin and Paul were looking even yummier than previous movies. i love how Vin walked around in a wife-beater almost the whole movie. i guess the wardrobe budget was very small lol. I wish they could have showed more with the intimate scenes within the two couples. oh well.
