April 1, 2009 Ms. Kelly Parts Ways With Columbia
Love muffins, R&B singer and Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and her label for more than a decade, Columbia Records, have decided to go their separate ways. Rowland will maintain her role as part of the Destiny’s Child catalogue, but will not be represented by the label as a solo artist.
“Because Columbia Records has been my home base as an artist for more than a decade, the decision to move out on my own required a lot of soul-searching,” Rowland said in a statement. “As a solo artist, I felt the need to explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside my comfort zone and my friends and family at Columbia have been incredibly understanding about my evolution.”
Rob Stringer, CEO, Columbia/Epic Label Music Group maintains that the split was mutual, and that, “any reports to the contrary are false.” Kelly’s 2007 release, Ms. Kelly sold 219,000 copies in the U.S.
This is definitely some interesting news – I’m sure the talented Ms. Kelly will continue to hold her own in the future.

i have always thought she was the cutest out of the destiny child crew, i hate to say it but darker women ( and i am lightskinned) are underrated. this chick has beauty brains and is talented not as talented as ms bee but she can do with the right people working for her

Im glad Kell Wells finally saw that the ppl who were supose to have her back did not have her or her future in their best interest……Im sorry to say but Mathew was looking out for his and his only!……It’s sad but Kellz really need to break out and stop being scarred…..she’s just as talented as Beyonce and deserves more respect!…….C’mon Kellz, you have to rep for the chocolate Sista’s we need you…we fading!
