Question:

B,

I’ve noticed that you have great skin. How do you control your razor bumps? What’s your secret to smooth, kissable skin? Any tips us girls can use for our bikini lines?

Thanks,
Donalee

B. Scott’s answer after the jump.

Answer:

The way that I avoid razor bumps is by not shaving every day – I usually shave every third or fourth day. I feel that skin needs a chance to really breath and heal after shaving. This is especially true if you have sensitive skin. The hair follicle needs a chance grow back out a bit before you shave again. When I do shave, it’s usually after a warm bath. I put a warm cloth on my face to really soften the skin so there’s minimal irritation, if at all. I use Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream and it totally works. I let it sit on my face for a couple of minutes before I begin.

As far as bikini lines go, I can’t really speak on them since I don’t shave mine! Lol. I’ve heard that this product called Tend Skin really works to avoid razor bumps. Check it out.

  • I use Skin-Tight! That stuff is mirical in a container!

  • Personally I keep my face razor bump free because I always use shaving powder before I shave. I only do it after it grows a little too. Too much skin irritation is bad. BTW Shaving powder is like a version of nair targeted towards black males.

  • I actually switched to a electric shavor, and havent had a razor bump since. You should shave with and NOT AGAINST the grain, its bad for the hair growth. Also, washing your face with acne products (even if you dont have acne) will prevent bumps. Salicylic acid is really good and is not as irritating as benzoyl peroxide.
