Ethiopian model Liya Kebede is the face, and the only face, of the April J. Crew catalogue. This marks the first time that J. Crew has used only one model for the entire catalogue, cover to cover. The brand recently garnered attention over First Lady, Michelle Obama’s embrace of the office staple. Kebede is also the face of St. John for Spring 2009.
The mother of two from Addis Ababa had her first big break when Tom Ford hired her for an exclusive contract for his Gucci Fall/Winter 2000 fashion show.

Big ups to all my gorgeous Ethiopian women! Liya is not just a pretty face…she is a good will ambassador to WHO and has her own charity that does great work in maternal and child health care…she truly is an inspirational.
