March 15, 2009 6 Injured In Riot At NYC ANTM Audition

Three people were arrested Saturday after craziness broke out at an America’s Next Top Model audition at the Park Central New York Hotel in New York City. Six people were injured, with two of them needing treatment at a hospital.
The drama began when model hopefuls, sleeping in the line over night, got irritated at girls cutting the queue. The frustration worsened when they found out that if they left the line, they’d have to start all over, causing some model candidates to urinate in cups. As the hours crept by, girls were being compressed into each other, causing some of them to have difficulty breathing. Two people that had been taunting each other for hours started to really fight, calling attention to police who broke up the disagreement. One threatened to return with a gun.
The last straw was when a BMW showed up with smoke pouring out, causing someone in the crowd to yell, “Bomb!”, sending the hundreds of hopefuls running and breaking down barricades. Watch the crazy footage below.
Needless to say, the audition was shut down after the incident.
Note: The show is currently in Cycle 12 – you can see the review from last week’s episode here.

That was not foolishness! TANESHA The whole thing was UNORGANIZED…PERIOD!!! There was absolutely no security. The cops were just standing around and talking. PLUS THEY WERE LETTING PEOPLE CUT THE LINE. THERE WERE TWO LINES. ONE OF THEM WAS ALL OF PPL WHO CUT. And they kept pulling from the line where ppl were cutting. And that was a major source of ppl getting angry, because the line went around the whole block. The end of the real line was where the riot started. The fights started actually before that riot due to the fact that they were cutting. People who had been their since the previous night were getting cut by people who had only been there for 2 minutes. THE SHIT WAS RIDICULOUS! And as far as the riot, the drivers of the car got out and ran after their car started smoking and people ran because they were not sure if it was going to blow up. Fortunately we’d not made it to the part of the line where ppl were pushing. We were slightly further back. We missed it by inches! And as to the girls, they were fighting because people were pushing people down and natural reactions they started to fight. And there was more than one…several matter of fact. The incident with the gun was a guy threatening a girl who was fighting his girlfriend. Tyra owes all those girls another audition. Her crew was very nasty and everything. They never even made a statement. They sent a cop out to collect applications that a girls who was lucky enough to make it in said they said they were going to shread. I was very disappointed.

My daughter had just got in at 4 just prior to the riot..but in the AM there was no secutity and they annouced everyone move forward and a stampeed started. She went form 175 in line from midnight, to number 2,161 AND THE producers took a 2 HOUR LUNCH..never mind people that came bwetween 8 am and 10 am got in first along with other from the back that stampeded back instead of follwing the line…it was chaos waiting to happen….

I like how people say “You’re so stupid to panic if someone says there’s a bomb in a crowd.”
-_-
sounds silly to not panic huh?
I think that this short model this is foolish. I’m not crazy tall myself and actually wouldn’t quality. But if the standards for models were attainable by every Bettie and Jane, models wouldn’t be valued. They wouldn’t really be seen as anything special. I say if you are short and you do make a niche for yourself, go for it. But remember it will be hard and you will get turned down very often.

When people yell “bomb” in New York, are you going to stand there to see if it’s real or is your first “thought” is to run!? If I’m in New York (after all that has happened) and someone says bomb or anything like plane or so… I’m leaving and asking questions later… how do you know they could see the car? How were they suppose to know it wasn’t a bomb… read a book my ass! Usually when there is a crowd of people, when a few people run they all do it, even if they didn’t know what from… it’s basic instincts! It’s better to run and be wrong than stay and get killed because you didn’t want to look stupid at the off chance you could be wrong.

that was real madness! i saw that video and was like “good thing my lil 5′2” ass didn’t wanna be ANTM! wtf!” it was obviously disorganised and i mean, after being in line overnight and shit who wants to have to deal with drama in the daylight? btches were disoriented for lack of sleep so they saw smoke, thought bomb and freaked the F out. lol. understandable. hope those injured turn out ok.
btw, tyra has had wayyyyyyy too much work done on that face dred!!!! phew!
