March 13, 2009 Beyonce Covers ‘Vogue’

Beyonce looks absolutely divine on the April cover of Vogue magazine. In the magazine’s annual shape issue, the “single ladies” diva opens up about her body image and weight issues. What a moment for Beyonce, simply breathtaking! Sidebar: Sasha Fierce has officially put all her haters out of business.

I am a true Beyonce’ fan, however i will keep it real. Marriage has been good for her, Oh yes definately, now that she done thru that weave as far from her as she can get it, fired that stylist, and combed her natural hair with maybe a few extentions, now EVERYONE can look at her and know she is TRUELY beautiful. Fierce, she is, but she would’ve never made it to Vogue with that Destiny child weave… Loreal wouldn’t even EVER let her bring that dog on her head, not in representation of THEM…

I agree 10000000% lol with media_man! Those were my thoughts exactly! Since when did Vogue “celebrate” curves? They sure weren’t celebrating them when they photoshopped Oprah down to the bone years ago.
Never the less it’s a great moment for B & I really love they left her skin color raw and natural.

BScott can you explain to these ignorant ”coach bag divas” that there is a difference between CONCERT HAIR – PHOTOSHOOT HAIR – and – VACATION / I DONT HAVE TO BE ON TV TODAY . HAIR
they seem to be really confused about Beyonce’s weave and when and why she’s wearing it.
BEYONCE LOOKS WONDERFUL – BOTH FASHIONABLE CHIC AND NATURAL

Meh. Another white magazine putting Beyonce on the cover! Whoopte fucking do! It’s getting very old! OVEREXPOSURE! She’s going to say the same damn thing that every celeb spits out on their interviews. There are so many beautiful darker sistas that deserve the cover more than her. Beyonce has been on plenty! She seems to be their favorite. I think its sad as black women we we see the same old light skinned girls on the covers of black and white magazines (the first lady does not count because she is after all the first lady) Why can’t we have more diverse sistas in the media? I’m honestly sick of this. Cheers to her but she isn’t doing anything for the overall image of black women.

sipping WAY too much haterade. sure its an opinion but honestly. negativity is not needed. no matter what shade of black is on the damn cover. the fact is…shes BLACK and on the cover of vogue. man it feels like beyonce is the epicenter of hating. everytime she gets on the cover of this or that, she either is overexposed, undeserving, too fake ETC. the woman is killin the game right now. she gettin it while its hot. and by god i and billions of others ain’t mad at her. give credit where its due and keep it movin. do the damn thing beyonce!

Azures. I made my point I’m sick of the white media is playing up ONE BLACK GIRL when there is many that you can put on the cover. Remember the whole Tyra v.s Naomi debacle? MY point exactly. We need a variety not the same old person.

@nbeya…
i understand your point and your frustration…but why must WE as black women make such a division between ourselves based on skin color? when will it end? light-skin vs. dark skin!! we are all black women!!!! if the damn media doesn’t want to embrace us, let’s embrace ourselves and lift ourselves AND EACH OTHER up and stop hatin on each other!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH US?

@ Nbeya and spicy goddess
black doesn’t have to be shades darker than brown to be beautiful. do i have to be blue black to be appreciated as a beautiful black woman? jennifer hudson was on the cover just last year, african american model sessilee lopez was on the cover of vogue italia last yr as well, DARK brown chocolate model alek wek has been on the cover of elle magazine, liya kebeda was just on the cover of vogue’s ALL BLACK issue. I mean, what the hell.
vogue’s just giving beyonce her turn because she IS the IT, has BEEN the IT and will continue to be the IT? the most popular get the covers honies, you should know the game by now. let B have her time while it lasts, then the next person will get their turn, it’s a step system pplz.
so stop hating on B. it’s always something with u ppl, she looks too white, her hair’s too blond, too much weave, not enough weave, she’s too fat, she’s getting skinny, she’s never ENOUGH for you ppl!
<3 B FOREVER! keep things poppin
and yes, i am BLACK. so i don’t mean anything racial by “u ppl” it’s more in the context of “you judgemental ass never happy always hatin bitches” kinda thing!

Really? Seriously? No wonder darker sistas are fed the fuck up. It’s this insensitive, uncaring “just be grateful” mentality that pisses us the fuck off! Blacks don’t like it when whites tell them to “just be grateful you’re free, and in America” type bullshit. Never mind the racism, subjugation, disenfranchisement, and ridicule we are exposed to. Enough of the “be happy for me I’m black too” motto, because black isn’t just black it never was that way. Certain shades of black are treated better than others. Darker sistas are still being passed up even for Michelle Obama shoots! This is beyond ignorant this bull has reached a whole new level I don’t know what to call it. Being just black isn’t enough to heal the wounds that many black women are feeling from marginalization like this. When you refuse to acknowledge that it divides us because you refuse to see their pain you just tell them to “shut the fuck up, and be happy for you sisters” when they dont open no doors for us, they just open doors for more of the same. That is not sisterhood that is selfish, and ignorant! It’s been the same old same old ever since blacks have entered the limelight so there is no excuse in 2009. Ignoring colorism, and just telling women to get over it instead of doing them justice is making the problem worse. Putting our heads in the sand and acting like everything is ok isn’t going to solve this problem. It’s 2009 so why is it only lighter skinned women who get most of the attention even from black folks. This coonish behavior must stop whites are not immune to this either after all they run most of the images we see, but we need to be more selective. We all know that black isn’t just black there is a hierarchy according to skincolor, but if you’re lighter you really wouldn’t know the privileges you have because they are subtle. That is the magic of privilege the people who have it are taught not to see it. I never said you have to be blue black to be beautiful all I’m saying is that why don’t we see more darker women since we are more numerous? Answer that! Beyonce may be big to you, but not everyone loves her. Respect that people have a different opinion that does not run with the crowd. She deserves her turn on Vogue, but it has done nothing for black women as a whole. Like I said big whoop.

Another thing Italian Vogue may have had a so called black issue, but things will be business as usual after it dies down. Take this into account, there were no natural sistas, no dark chocolate sistas, and not full lips wide/large nosed sistas in there, most of those girls fit the white standard of beauty in some way.
