Yes, he will hit her again, but the bigger problem is that Rihanna needs to learn how to let go of people who don’t want to be with her. Otherwise, she’ll end up in this same situation with someone else.

I agree with Mark (Kelly’s husband, I think). We shouldn’t let celebs “parent” children today. Everything else the whole panel was saying is the exact same thing I hear each and every day about this case. I’m really sick of it, not because everyone is talking about it but it makes no sense! Dude “legally” beat you up and now the two of you were hanging out at a beach?! And now you don’t want to press charges against him?!!!!! I need solid facts b4 I put my 2 cents in….

Damn…Gale I admit I have used the phrase “I’m going to lay the Chris Brown Smack Down on you”
I agree this is a “teachable” moment and I hope that Rihanna uses this as a way to express to her fans both male and female that domestic violence should not be tolerated AT ALL! I really hope that she takes a step back and realize that love is supposed to be hard work, but IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HURT! The damaged that he caused is forgivable because everyone deserves to be forgiven, but it is NOT forgettable!
He needs to do a redemption tv series!! TI, baby, you need to go ahead on pass and the torch on over to Chris Brown FOR REAL!

This is gettin way out of hand. The fact that this is all over the news and everywhere you look is ridiculous. Not defending what he did but abusers can get help and can overcome their flaws this is not something thats incurable, I’m a personal testimony to this. I had issues with anger and abuse and hurt a lot of the people I loved but I got the professional help that I needed and have overcome that demon in my life. Let these young people heal in private and give them both the space they need and deserve as human beings. I pray for both Rihanna and Chris that both get the healing they need and are able to move beyond this foolishness and get back to doing what they love and what we love to see them doing – which is making music and entertaining. LET THEM LIVE THEIR LIVES!

Rihanna is not right in the head –
Which – A lot of pop stars aren’t –
THe comments from her father make me a little uneasy – he keeps saying he supports her and wishes her the best – which would be fine if she was just doing something unwise or silly like posing for Playboy.
but she’s in an abusive relationship and he’s saying he “supports her” Its no different than her being addicted to drugs – would he still support her decision to be a crackhead.
He must be some kind of abuser or addict for RIhanna to run to a man like Chris Brown who is also not right in the head.
Healthy people don’t stay in situations like that for half a second. Healthy people usually get out before the first slap. Healthy people wouldn’t even allow themselves to be yelled at by bf/gf much less hit. Any healthy/stable person would have left a long time ago.
Rihanna needs a serious intervention -Not from her family – clearly going home hasn’t helped in her decision making skills.
Chris is getting his wake up call – JAIL!
What will hers be – HOSPITALIZATION???
If somebody starts raising their voice at you – something is not right -
I’m sure this is a controversial opinion but i believe it with all my heart. Even my parents used to yell and scream – as it turned out the dynamics of their relationship were all wrong.

They’re probably out there getting “HURT” by some other coward. This happens when people want to keep issues like this to themselves. THe people that need help don’t get it.

I have a problem with Oprah mispronouncing famous peoples names. She calls Denzel, Danzel and now Rihanna, Ree-Hanna. How is she going to give her opinion of the situation when she has no clue who Chris Brown and Rihanna are, she could have at least done a little research. But all in all she is right, if a man hits you once he will hit you again. And I’m pretty sure this probably wasn’t the first time Chris put his hands on her or any other woman. That’s probably why it’s not a big deal to them.

What concerns me about this is that she is such a beautiful girl and has such low self esteem that she will go back to a man that beats her. If he beat her once unless he get’s some SERIOUS help he will do it again. Furthermore who is to say it has not happen before it just that this time it went public.

1. Oprah has been a victim of abuse as a child and as an adult so she knows what she’s talking about.
2. Chris should know because he’s seen his mom being abused.
I think they should at least had some months apart to see if she emoitnally recovers or he figures his anger management.

i hear you Joseph Reaves because it kills me that when something horrible happens to these celebrities thats when people wants to start up a conversation of that issue thats needs to stop why all of a sudden Oprah wants to do a show about what happened to Rihanna i undertand that she has her opinion and shes intitled to that but if this mess didnt happen at all would she have done a show about teenagers and domestic violence i dont think so and we wouldnt cared to speak about domestic violence something have to happen to these celebrities for people to talk about the situation when the conversation should have been spoken about before anything happens to a celebrity we need to be talking about why so many people are dying in our streets by guns, drugs, and etc there are far more things we can put out energy into

Trouble0h7 – Yes I do think about those individuals and I have apologized and acknowledged how I hurt them.
Also we’re looking at in from the Rihanna’s of the world but how do we help the Chris Brown’s of the world – hurt and daamged young men and women who saw things they shouldnt have saw in their childhood and now despite their best intentions are acting those things out. I’m not saying make excuses for him but I am saying hold him up in compassion and help him get the help that he needs. I dont believe in the prison-industrial complex as it doesn’t rehabilitate, it doesn’t heal, and it doesnt help to make people better and most people who go to prison leave more damaged than what they were when they went in so I do not believe jail is the answer for Chris in this situation and for any of the young men like Chris who battle with the same issues. Chris is not a menace to society, he’s not public enemy #1, and he’s not a hardened criminal he’s a young man who is in serious need of serious help. I don’t think Chris is healthy for Rihanna and I don’t think Rihanna is healthy for Chris so I dont think they should be together and also the public wont let them be together. Also to the white woman who was talking about him jet-ski’ing and looking at tooshies we don’t know that he was looking at tooshies and from what I’ve heard his family made him go to Diddy’s house because they wanted him to get out because he’s been suicidal since this whole thing has happened. He made a mistake but this boy still has a life to live and it has been almost a month. Both need to start the process of moving on

While this IS a great post and what Oprah is saying is definately on point…we don’t need Oprah to tell us what statistics, the u.s. justice department and MILLIONS of regular every day women who have managed to SURVIVE this nightmare have learned…when a man beats you like this…after the “first time” that line is crossed…it will be crossed again and more quickly and savagely EACH TIME until that ONE TIME when its TOO MUCH and she’s gravely injured…or DEAD.
Rhianna is foolish and sending a DANGEROUS message to her fans and women in general. Not that its her RESPONSIBILITY…but since she IS “high profile” , people are going to SEE what she’s doing and she’s showing the WORLD that “even though my boyfriend beat the hell out of me and threatened my life…i’m going to go BACK to him and BE WITH HIM despite the danger”
This is a terrible situation and the outcome is even worse, IMO. Rhianna should talk to Madonna, Tina Turner, Farrah Fawcett or some other celebrity women who have endured abuse and see what it took for THEM to finally get a clue and escape.

Why does everybody and their momma have to stop and give their opinion about something where we have a lot of speculations, a lot of he said she said, but not enough facts of what happened.
The only two people who said something different and refreshing was Tyler and Mark.
1. Stop leaving it up to celebrities to teach your kids what’s right and wrong.
It’s not their job. It’s yours. Talk to your kids and take care of your household. Your opinion actually matters there unlike in this situation where everyone is giving their 2 cents and none of us have any role in these two young ppl’s lives.
I hope ppl are spending just as much time talking to their family and kids about what to do if they ever (God forbid) were to be in a situation where they
A) are physically abused
Or
B) feel like they are loosing control due to their anger (teaching them man or woman, to walk away and take a break)
Focus on that. Stop waisting time weighing in on how horrible chris is or how stupid and irresponsible Rhihanna is for getting back with him.
You are not in control over that, and really I am tired of hearing about it.

i will not be watching Oprah special on domestic violence because why all of a sudden people want to come out with these specials with the chris and rihanna thing happened dont get me wrong i know that what has occurred between the two of them is horrible but if this didnt happened at all they wouldnt be talking about doing a special on this topic domestic violence should have been discussed way before these two celebrities got involved in their situation people need to stop waiting for something horrible to happen to these celebrities to strike up a conversation and another reason why im not watching her special is because i know that it is gonna be so one-sided like women getting beat up by men if the show was talking about both sides then i can watch because there are men getting beat up by women so why we cant talk about that too women know that men arent suppose to hit them back so thats a reason that they hit them which is not an excuse and i dont understand why Oprah is trying to reach out to her if Rihanna isnt listening to her family and friends for what they think she should do then why would she listen to Oprah
