March 5, 2009 Lindsay As Madonna – Alicia As Michelle

Glamour Magazine is celebrating its 70th anniversary with women who have inspired the world. “You can do anything!” – this is the message of the seven decades of female risk takers, rule breakers and style makers. They are celebrated with the help of some very-2009 young talents. The portfolio features Alicia Keys as Michelle Obama, Lindsay Lohan as Madonna, and the list goes on.

Although she is on the light skin side, it’s still a wonderful choice for Michelle. I see you Alicia!!

I am upset that they did not give a brown girl the chance to play Michelle, poor choice in Alicia!

It’s typical of Glamour to think it can define black women. Glamour has never been interested in what black women think and do. This homogenized “celebration” of important black women makes me think there aren’t enough black executives are at Glamour–I wonder if they have *any* black executives. Probably not.

“Face” you should STFU, I am tired of white people and house negroes like yourself wanting to whiten and lighten black people as a thing of beauty, our beauty comes in all shades, and Michelle Obamas happens to come in brown. This is just like how Cleopatra and Jesus are portrayed as white, if you had any knowledge of history you would be disgusted as well.

Try this on for thought how many brown girls would be cast for Etta James, or Dorothy Dandride, (exactly) would never happen the other way around.

Please stop hating on Alicia. I get so sick of dark skinned people making it seem like the world see Light as Right. Get over it. Obviously you (leigh) have some sort of insecurity about yourself. Get over it. Alica is a strong black woman just like Michelle, and THAT is probably why they chose her! NOT because she’s mixed!

I am actually light skin I am mixed although I identify as black I just tell it how it is, typical of people to assume that when you speak the truth you have to speak about yourself, typical slave mentality. The sad thing is you probably are dark.
