B. Scott Attends Yale University’s 14th Annual Black Solidarity Conference

“My objective is to bridge the gap by making more people aware that homosexuality is nothing to be ashamed of while allowing others to get to know a little bit more about me personally” is how celebrity correspondent, B. Scott of lovebscott.com, expounds on his purpose as one of the guest speakers at Yale University’s 14th Annual Black Solidarity Conference.

Recent research findings show that only fifty-two percent of gay men and fifty-one percent of lesbians confess that they can be completely honest about their sexual orientation with their work colleagues within the African American community. The percentages decrease when the discussion moves from the workplace to the home and places of worship. The topic of sexuality, specifically homosexuality, is a subject that is incessantly evaded due to the overwhelming feeling of embarrassment and the lack of knowledge. B. Scott utilizes his charismatic personality and new media instrument to establish himself as one of the forerunners in combating the factors that allow people to avert conversations concerning sexuality. With his media tools and talents, B. Scott initiates dialogue in order to create a discussion to eradicate and dispel the false ideas that society associates with homosexuality.

B. Scott says, “I was honored that Yale University called and requested that I join the panel at this year’s conference. I am excited to share my views on the Sexuality Panel to remove some of the negative views that are placed on homosexuality amongst African Americans.” In addition to sexuality, topics on African Americans within the realms of media, fashion, and entertainment will also be addressed within the conference. The symposium will also highlight Black professionalism, spirituality and wellness, and Black self-identification.

To witness B. Scott discuss his perspective on sexuality within the African American community, prospective attendees can log on to http://www.yale.edu/bsc/schedule.html to view schedule and registration info.
