I agree with Ivy, Domestic Violence is no laughing matter. And we do need to pray for them. And the children who are victims or witness this need our help. I like what you said about stopping it at the source.

I also agree with Trouble, we need to be united when things like this happen. We as women need to stick together. I am not a fan of Rhihanna’s music, but I feel it’s sad that this has happened to her. It shouldn’t be tolerated.

So now the big question, How can we help now that new light is shining on this growing epidemic?

I dont think anyone would have approved of domestic violence as a major issue BEFORE this incident. Rihanna’s name has shed light onto the issue.

All the faceless and nameless people being abused should be grateful that the issue is getting some attention. It’s sad that stars of RIHANNA’s caliber don’t stand up for these issues more often. Usually they get pulled into it ACCIDENTLY. Her FAME has been put to good use. It’s sad that it had to happen this way.

As for your comment that RIhanna is not that woman. You’re absolutely wrong! Rihanna is that woman being pulled by her hair. We ALL are.

When people like you can realize that truth – the truth that we are ONE – Even the ones with fame and money. Then we can really start helping one another.

If you can’t feel sympathy for Rihanna because she is famous and it upsets you that people are upset that she was beaten than you shouldn’t be posting comments telling people to PRAY for this one and PRAY for that one.

If domestic violence being discussed means we are all bashing Chris Brown for his actions than so be it. Again, his fame is a blessing in disguise and is being put to good use.

I commend you for your work with women who have dealt with this on the regular basis.

I have no problem with Chris doing time for the crime he committed against Rhihanna. He was dead wrong for what he did and I think he was plain stupid. He needs his ass kicked.

Like I have stated before, The problem that I have with this situation is that most people only care about it because Rhihanna’s name is attatched to the story. The situation is only getting this much publicity because of who she is, not because Domestic Violence is a horrible problem that needs our attention.

Second of all, with you studying Child Psychology, It alarms that you have never read text that states that abusive behavior is a learned behavior. At an early age, children raised in an abusive environment may develop patterns in their conduct that mimic the types of behavioral characteristics of batterers and victims. The lessons they learn from experiencing or observing abuse usually accompanies them into adulthood.

Chris grew up in an abusive enviroment.

Of course, NONE of that makes it right, but if we are going to make an effort to really fix this problem, shouldn’t we know and learn all the info. we can about it so we have a better chance on stopping it and preventing it from happening again?

To me it seems as if your experience as a child (although very bad and unfortunate) has made you very closed minded. You saw the horrible exscuse of a man hurt, disrespect, and humiliate that poor woman, and now every situation where a woman is hit in your mind resembles the one you’ve seen in the past.

Rhihanna is not that woman you saw dragged by her hair. Her situation is not the poster situation for every women who experiences domestic violence.

More effort should be put into kids who come from an abusive home life so that we have a better chance of stopping this epidemic at it’s source.

It would be more productive to have programs and more attention towards the kids who have a bigger chance of growing up and doing something stupid and horrible like Chris Brown, rather than to wait till they get older and point the finger at them for following the horrible example that was set for them when they were younger.

Pray for them. They need our prayers more than they need us arguing about their business on the internet.

But I have to agree with Jai and Ciera. One of the reasons I have a problem with all of the attetnion that this is getting is because everyone is only interested b/c its Rhihanna getting hit on. Otherwise, no one would really give a care.

And All of you posters getting all upset and riled up (Jessica) You Have a seat. Take a deep breath. Relax.

It is a serious matter, but it’s not so serious where you all need to fight with each other over something where none of us really know all the facts.

Until we know more, everyone chill out, wait to see how things unfold before getting your torches and pickforks ready.

If you care so much for these young people, pray for them, send out some of that positive energy that B Scott mentioned in past videos.

And don’t get so caught up in this, realize that their lives are not your lives.

However, there are two sides to every story ppl. We only know one side. I love how all of you are ready to put chris to death over the mistake he made.

Please Get over yourselves! You never made a mistake? Please stop the nonsense. Most of you were ok with supporting R Kelly’s “I like messing with little girls” behind when he was going through his stuff, and that is ten times as bad as this! But you overlooked it and used the “His music is so good” excuse.

But God forbid Chris Brown act like a human instead of the saint you wish he was, and he takes a page out of his abusive step dad’s (who he saw beat his mom from age 7) book and hits Rihanna. Oh we can NEVER forgive that even though medical research shows that young kids who witness abuse in their homes usually grow up to be abusers or be in abusive relationships.

I am in no way saying It was A-OK to hit her, I am saying you are all being unrealistic and unreal by thinking that this boy’s music career should be put to death for making a mistake.

Seems like that’s a horrible word to use now a days, Forgiveness…Last time I checked none of us were perfect. It’s not right to pick and choose which artists to tare apart and which ones to overlook. They both need your prayers and support.

Some of you really need to step back from this situation and wait for FACTS to be revealed. You’re making Chris out to be some kind of monster when you haven’t a clue….there are 3 sides to this story, his, hers and the TRUTH. If this case was so open and shut, the DA would have long since filed charges against him. Since that has yet to happen, methinks this is a BS case.

Is it a coincidence that people aren’t ready to support Rihanna and black women in this country are being infected with HIV at an alarming rate.

I am black and I support black males as well as females but we can’t support someone just because they can sing and dance or just because they are a man.

We need to make everyone responsible for their actions if this world is ever going to change for the better.

I just think a lot of people don’t know what went down with Chris and Rih, in spite of what police reports and “close sources” are putting out there. I do know that all the blogs and papers ready to try and convict this brother before a case has even been put together is really extreme. ESPECIALLY considering Chris Brown has never shown himself to be an attacker, animal, or asshole in public. I’m really shocked at how little people in the media are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt or even refrain from judgment with so little facts involved. (I’m also shocked at how folks let their hate for Rihanna easily dismiss this situation… sick on both sides.) For all anybody knows,they may WANT to work through this bull, but because of all the outsiders looking in, they can’t even get any real clarity, closure, or healing. And they are 19 and 20, how sad is that?

There is no question that what he did was wrong, but we cannot put down his apology. Yes, it did come a week after, but sometimes it takes that period of time for reality to sink in. We must give him some credit for apologizing. There are plenty of “regular” “everday” people who get beaten everyday and never receive an apology from their batters, so he’s doing more then most. Another reason why I feel for CB is because I know how your life can be flipped up side down because your in the mist of your anger. I have done some questionable things as well because of my anger which I have dubbed “Hulkamania”. However, I wouldn’t want anyone to completely outcast me and make me seem like a monster when Im not, so I wont do that to him.

Again, I don’t condone what he did by any means, but at least he’s taking little strides to make the situation better. I just hope that everything is sincere, and not just a move to replace his already shattered reputation.
