Update II: R&B singer Chris Brown has been booked tonight on suspicion of making felony criminal threats in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, according to Los Angeles Police Department sources familiar with the case. Brown was booked at the Wilshire Division station and posted $50,000 bail, sources said. He left the station before 9 p.m. Los Angeles police said earlier they planned to detain Brown for questioning on an alleged domestic violence assault. In an updated statement tonight, police said, additional charges may be filed against Brown when the case is presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Brown listed his residence as Washington, Va. [The Los Angeles Times]
Update: Brown arrived at the Wilshire Division station about 7:15 p.m., accompanied by his attorney Mark Geragos and Geragos’ investigator Scott Ross. The pair drove into a parking lot behind the station on Venice Boulevard, east of La Brea Avenue, in a black Escalade. Brown and the man entered through a back door where a posted sign stated for “authorized personnel only.” Police are expected to release a statement later this evening. [The Los Angeles Times]

The incident is being investigated as a felony domestic violence case, police said. It was reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Hancock Park. Brown and Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, were apparently in a car together and got into an argument on North June Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Brown stopped the car, the two got out, and the argument escalated, according to police.
A witness called 911, but Brown was gone when officers arrived at the scene. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker, according to police.
Chris Brown and Rihanna had appeared together Saturday night at Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy gala in Beverly Hills.
Shortly before the Grammy show began at 5 p.m. at Staples Center, Grammy officials issued a statement saying, “We have just been informed Rihanna will not be attending tonight’s 51st Grammy Awards. Rihanna will not be performing. We are sorry to see she is unable to join us this evening.” A publicist for the Barbados-born star, who sold more digital song downloads than any other in 2008 with nearly 10 million tracks, said Sunday night, “Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support.” Her song “Disturbia,” which she’d been scheduled to perform at the ceremony, was the sixth best-selling digital track of the year. She was replaced by veteran soul singer Al Green, who was accompanied by country singer-guitarist Keith Urban. Brown’s record label spokesman did not respond to The Times’ request for comment. His whereabouts were unknown as the Grammy show began. Brown finished 2008 as the fourth-best-selling artist in the digital realm, posting 6.8 million tracks sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. “According to the victim (who is NOT Rihanna), she and Chris got into an argument that turned ugly and violent.
Police say the woman in question has “visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.”
So we all have to wait for the truth to shake lose because before this came out their was a report that Chris and Rihanna were in a car accident according to Entertainment Weekly.
If he in fact did do what has been alleged then he needs to deal with the consequences, you don’t hit women!

First off i said no one knows what really went down and that no one deserves to be hit. 2 who focuses on something as petty as spell check in a comment section. and 3 I’ve never hit a woman and dont plan on it,and we all talk sensibly when we’re not in the situation ourselves and say whats right or wrong but find out we do the exact opposite we we are in that situation. All I’m saying is the woman is not this fragile needs to be protected you not a man if you hit being.. Woman can be just as strong as men physically, mentally, and emotionally.. and if anyone says different you know you women fight to prove them wrong but as soon as something goes down and a female has been hit by a men then all of a sudden all that changes come on stop holding to these outdated ideologies thats used to control or catagorize gender roles and whats socially acceptable behavior for you. neither a man or woman should resort to violence. I don’t nor do we know the full details. There are better solutions. Some women think they can get away with hitting a man. If you do that it’s like your basically challenging a man on his physical level. Don’t do it if you don’t want to get hit back. Plain and simple. I had a girl keep slapping me in the face when I was young. She was testing me because she knew I wouldn’t hit back and it was humiliating. Some women are like that. I am NOT saying she did this because I do not know but for people who say men shouldn’t hit women. They should tell some women not to beat on women. No one should each other unless in self defense. If it is a women I would suggest pushing her away but I would not let her beat me up. I am a short and slim guy some girls are bigger then me anyway. If you hit someone your saying you want to fight! Well its been reported that they had a volatile relationship and that she has attacked him before and he has attacked him before if that is true I think they both need counseling and anger management treatment. and its been reported that RiRi wasn’t the one who called the cops but a witness..which is probably true if this type stuff happened between all the time…Chris Brown is wrong especially for doing it in public, but if this is the type of relationship both him an RiRi had where they both lashed out in anger at each other then i think its unfair for him to be facing prison time possibly losing his entire career…9yrs in prison come on… Thats only if the report are true that they both were violent towards each other.If she is the innoccent victim then send him up the creek, but I dont think that this a simple black and white issue things are complicated and there are details that we will never know, but it doesnt matter right or wrong Chris is going to be cruxified by the media no matter what evidence comes out he’s a guy and RiRi’s a beautiful young woman..not picking sides cuz i dont know what happened but thats the truth

Here’s the thing. Why is it an excuse just because he’s Chris Brown. You don’t hear people being on the guys side when it’s regular people and domestic abuse. This is EXACTLY why the woman stays when she’s hit. She assumes he didn’t meant it and is sorry (sometimes they don’t mean it) but after a couple of times of fighting you have to ask yourself “is it you or me?” My thing is what the hell happened to self control. If I am aware that I’m reaching that point to where I feel like I just wanna smack a bitch (knowing my mother was treated like so) I definitely will halt myself. does not mean he is guilty . and if he had not turned himself in than ppl still would have something to say . and i will not feed into the negative hype. dont ppl have better things to do than to worrie about what’s really none of our business anyway . and “if” anything did happen to Rihanna i wish her the best !! but i also believe in forgiveness and i wish chris brown the best and i will still support . of i think he was out of his mind if he hit her, but i also think that we forget that he is human and things happen weather their good or bad . and it sad . he so young and still has a bright future ahead of him . and so does Rihanna . God Bless them both . but seriously i that negative mess is real nasty, CUT IT OUT PEOPLE !

Everyone needs to calm down.. I’m disappointed to even HEAR of some stupid drama like this, especially in regards to these two. But let’s all remember…THIS IS MEDIA. And the media will throw anything and everything out of proportion just to make some money. It seems like people always want to start drama with those that are happy and seem to have no problems…what’s next? Beyonce cheats on Jay-Z and Jay-Z has his goons take her out?? I mean …wow come on.
In addition, the so-called woman who CALLED 9-1-1 was NOT RIHANNA. There is confusion about if Rihanna even was even the woman who was abused!! Sh*t…yall seen “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate” HELL…women do make things up now…and men do tend to hide things..
I just feel like. If Chris Brown didn’t do anything…Then why flee the scene???? anywho. That was my 2 cents.

I HEARD CHRIS BROWN WAS BEING UNFAITHFUL AND SHE KEPT TELLING HIM TO SHUT UP AND DRIVE AND HE PULLED OVER IN THE PARK AND HIT HER WITH AN UMBRELLA CAUSE SHE TRIED BREAKIN DISHES LMAO!!
