January 25, 2009 New Music: Lil Wayne – Prom Queen
Lil Wayne recently announced the official release date and title of his next album: Rebirth due out April 7 and his publicist has confirmed to MTV News that it will be a rock album.
The first single is called “Prom Queen” and was supposed to debut on the Internet right after a live stream of his concert in San Diego on January 27. The show will be available for stream on MySpace.com but we have the “Prom Queen” for your listening pleasure now!

music is a form of self expression. and i think the the rap game has been changed up by a lot of artists trying new and different things. some are great and others maybe not so much but still…its their music, their lyrics, shit…let them be who they wanna be on the track. lol…we got Kanye singing, M.I.A doing her thing and now Weezy is a rock star…so go head Weezy…ROCK ON! lol

uhm..I don’t know him..or of him..but it kinda takes me back to “I WANNA BE YOU MAN” with that lil wayne voice or lyrics or beats or music..well, just the distorted voice, now that was sexy way back when..but I really don’t hate his song..at all..I just didn’t understand the words..and being the positive women i am..I just adlibbed. blessed b!

The song is O.K. I am still trying to get use to LIL Wayne being a rock star and not a rapper. It seems like every rapper is starting to sing thanks to auto-tune or vocoder. It is going to take me a while to embrace this song. I just want to hear real singing. Well, rock on Lil Wayne.

is he serious? this must be a joke….this is horrible..but its nice that he has a dream but if his cd is gonna be filled with weak and horrible songs like this then it doomed…he needs to come harder ..take some pointers from framing hanley or whatever their name is that remixed lollipop …AND STOP KILLING THAT VOICE BOX…CNT EVEB UNDERSTAND YOU NO MORE

If people took the shite out of their ears they would hear that this is dreadful. people only say its “new” “interesting” “original” because its Lil wayne and he is currently the most overrated hip-hop artist out there.
This man is all hype, his music has no substance. Doesn’t he realise that it is possible to make a hit record that actually has meaning (ie. Jesus Walks-Kanye, or Live your life-T.I)
And anyone who actually listens to rock knows that this is not rock music, its a poor imitation!

Great idea. I love that he wants to do something different but this just does not sound right. It sounds like he is trying too hard. Go back to the studio and fix her up a bit. Great concept bad song.

Lil Wayne in my opinion is far better at rap, shown especially In his early work such as “go dj” but this is a good song n he’s being brave because this is a massive change for him. Hopefully the album will be a success!

Dude, weezy f. Is the shit, rapper, rocker, whatever he pleases. This first song prom queen souns a little like a mix of both, I think he took a big leap and pulled it off very well! Its nice to have a favorite artist with a variety! He’s still going to rap, and now he’s going to rock it out as well! I love wayne, he’s got some good tunes. He will never get old in my book! I can’t wait for this new album to come out! Its going to be great! Keep it up weezy!
