Hi
This track was is and always will be a classic!
However, one thing that is yanking my chain is these references to Alexandra Burke’s mother as the lead singer with Soul II Soul.
Alexandra’s mother is Melissa Bell. The lead singer with Soul II Soul was the amazing Caron Wheeler. The lead vocal on Back To Life was DEFINITELY Caron Wheeler, so unless Melissa Bell’s stage name was Caron Wheeler,(and I can find no evidence online that it was)then the public is being misled by the X-Factor publicity machine.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Alexandra Burke and reckon she’s going to be HUGE, it just bugs me that the minimum of research can prove this claim to be inaccurate or untrue.

Further to my previous post, on the official Soul II Soul site, Melissa Bell & Caron Wheeler are listed as separate vocalists on different recordings.
Melissa sang lead on about three tracks that I could see. Neone of which were “Keep On Movin’” or “Back To Life”, their biggest hits. Caron Wheeler sang lead on both of those.
Whilst I might seem pedantic, I think it’s important to give credit to singers where it’s due, Caron Wheeler sang these two songs and HER brilliance on them should not be falsely attributed to someone else.

Mark called it. I don’t keep up with X-Factor so I was lost with the reference, but I did know that this was, in fact, Caron Wheeler singing lead on this song. She later went solo.
