Sorry B but your diva Mariah vocals just arent what they use to be. You should compare this version to one her old school performance of this song. There is a huge difference

Ok I love Mimi too but come on …why re-do a song that was perfect only to screw it up?
I still say Celine can sing better.!

Very nice, but for some reason I think it should’ve been shortened to be a reprise of the original.

Thanks B. I’ve been a huge fan of MC since the begining in 1990 and her voice is still amazing. New or old Mariah’s voice is one of the greatest of our times and the greatest of all artist from the 90’s. It’s her song she can do what ever she wants it’s called copywrites and it’s already been a number 1 so hey why shouldn’t she update it and prove to the haters she still has it.

I prefer the original and could’ve done without this re-make. Her vocals are much stronger in the original song, emphasizing on the strength of the words and making it more powerful. This doesn’t do the same for me.

Wtf? Has Mariah lost her damn mind. Her voice sounds horrible on this new Hero track. It is such a shame. What happened? And who let her release another video that makes no sense? WTF? the dog, sitting with some random fat chick in the studio with a notebook and random shots of NYC. She’s lost it! Someone in her camp should have told her NO! Ruin a damn perfect classic! FOOL

@ Chi Chi and GottaBigThang: Cause she can that’s why. LOL Sony think they can just release her shit, well she can put her current take on it, the way she wants to and prolly the way she plans to sing it. This aint the 90’s. Diva do yo thang.

No! I hate when singers try and re-do perfection. It’s sad really, she has made the song not only lose vocal power but also emotional. Really, I wonder if Mariah can sing like she did in the past… maybe that golden voice is a thing of the past? Most vocalists voices changes and gets stronger but there are those who just lose it… maybe she didn’t take care of it properly or something but I really don’t think she has it anymore. I hope she proves me wrong but right now I doubt it. Whitney and Mariah broke my heart… damn it! Why two of the best vocalist of all time have to go and screw with my emotions??? It’s like I’m waiting for that good ol’ Mariah and she busts out with this hot mess… and people buy into it!? It’s like they have not heard the originals or even the earlier performances of this classic. Get it together ladies because I am dying a slow death listening to the “new” stuff!!! Oh she messed this up TOTALLY!!!!! I’m starting to think she should have stayed married, oh Mariah go back please!!! I like some of her newer songs but really, how many are classics? Maybe I can’t let go of the past but this is getting ridiculous! If you like this version so-be-it, but it’s clear to me you don’t realize how she just mangled one of the best songs ever! She ate this up back in the day!!! Ok, I’m over it. I’ll go and check the older videos and reminisce. A damn shame, truly!!!

Oh yea, to Anonymous:
Still has it? I am not impressed… I think you are mistaken. This version should not have been released. If this was the original version it definitely would not have been as adored. She didn’t show much range, no soul, and it sounds like fluff. It’s like a bad but Okay karaoke version… you know, good enough to advance on American Idol but not enough to crack the top 5! It really saddens me when people accept inferior work from people just because they like the artist or because they just don’t know how bad they sound compared to previous works. I’m not saying Mariah is not good but it just does not stack up to Mariah before Diddy and the stress/drugs/breakdown/divorce/age! I like quite a few of her songs since and during Diddy but really, which would you take Mariah b4 or after Diddy? Be honest!

Shakia: Mariah Now all day. Fabulous. Before I would change the station on the song as big singing fluff, now we see the depth and subtlety. Aint nobody tryna sing big all they damned life. She is more mature and singing it the way she feels it. That’s what records and videos are for, to replay. Leave huh alone.

I never liked the original Hero. I found it boring and schmaltzy. I LOVE THIS VERSION! It has a certain delicate, haunting feeling and sound to it that the original didn’t have. I’m glad she re-did it.
I really don’t get what alot of folks are upset about. Part of being an artist is swtiching it up. Don’t you think she gets tired of singing that song in the same old belting way. Besides maybe just maybe this is the way she’d wanted to do the song in the 1st place.
