December 31, 2008 Soulja Boy: Nas Killed His Own Career

Take me higher Lord! Soulja Boy has been talking out of the side of his neck again. He basically announced that Nas was the one that killed hip-hop and basically his career. I didn’t fully listen to Soulja, because I was rolling on the floor laughing at his pants dang near sagging to the floor, but there weren’t any females in the room! This shut yo mouth potion is just too good right now! Thoughts?

i feel what souljah boy is saying, however ever conframpled the message was. if u say it it is so. i’m tired of these no name hasbeen ass something hating on this lil’boy.

when hip hop started it was all about FUN,getting, dressed, DANCING,talkin to girls, and STARTING A TREND! how deep was,”a hip a hop a hibbit to hop and ya don’t stooooop” that wasn’t so complex that we had to bust out our dictionary’s right!? THANK YOU!

souljah boy[despite that song bein a lil grossish] prompts kids to want to do a fun[non-sexual] dance that doesn’t involve rubbing parts and gettin pregnant on the flo’ i support that for the kids i mentor. SERIOUSLY! everybody should just SAT they asses down and see him for what he is. a self-made success of a KID!

  • this boy looks like a sick ostrich

  • This little boy is sssoooo ignorant!!! When was this video made, before or after he put out the video apologizing for his past ignorance and vowing to do better; before or after his new CD came out and flopped. Is his flop of a CD the reason why he is so upset with Nas, because he feels Nas murdered his career also?

People just need to realize when they are a one-hit wonder. Enjoy it while it lasts and invest well. Those were 6 1/2 minutes of my life that I will never get back!!!! Oh well, serves my ass right for watching ANYTHING with Soldier Fool in it.

  • I understand what he is saying also, if you have a major voice then the people will listen. So, when NAS said hiphop was dead everybody starting saying hiphop was dead. And, by the way what is real hiphop. I thought it came from your heart, your experience, the sh** you go through. Hiphop has a new face, we are not back in 1985 when hiphip was undergroung fresh and new, it is 2008-2009 and artist are different, but they are still speaking from their heart, and sh** that they have gone throught. So young dude do have a point. And, yes we know every rapper does not write their own material, we just trying to keep it real.

I agree with NeeCee and Kissa he needs his ass whooped and this dude is not relevant at all. He will be just a memory real soon!! Not my memory but somebody’s…. LMAO

  • FIRST OF SOULJA BOY HAS NOT BEEN IN THE GAME THAT LONG TO SAY ANYTHING, HES THE SAME AGE OF ME SO I KNOW HE CANT SAY ANYTHING THAT HASNT BEEN SAID BY SOMEBODY ELSE. I DO RESPECT HIS OPINION, HOWEVER THATS AN OPINION HE SHOULDVE KEPT TO HIMSELF EVEN THOUGH HE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CORRECT. AND WHY DID HE PUT ALL THESE TATTOOS ON HIMSELF?! UHH SOULJA PLEASE STOP.”STAY FOCUSED” IN THE WORDS OF WILL SMITH IN SEVEN POUNDS.

  • why is he in the entertainment business he far from entertaining. What he need to do is stay in school and get off the 3rd grade reading level. He just proves the negative stereotypes people have on african americans to the fullest

  • B. Scott..I was laughing too. I mean when are these guys going to realize that having pants that low is not a good look. Who cares about what he says. It’s never something good! The last comment I heard from him was about slavery or something. Just stupid. My favorite comment was at the very end. His homeboy said “Man, This Captain D’s sure is good!” That I agree with. Happy New Year everyone!

Goddamn arab loook soooooooo gud with that hair cut omg and that skinny slow boy wit the green hat lol need to shut up and just continueing making music fo kids cause das thas his only demographic.

  • Okay, I know many people are saying that he sounds ignorant…blah…blah, but there is some truth to it. People did start jumping on the band wagon after Nas released those words. Soulja Boy was just chatting it up with his buds damn, not giving a speech at a Hip Hop Summit. Chill…there’s relevancy to what the young man is saying, yet you also have to understand where the speech is taking place. Dueces!

    Why Is He Still Relevent?

  • Every generation has great entertainers but this guy looks and sounds like a complete ass. He dont teach or encourage kids his age to go to college. Slave mentallity: keep black people uneducated and ignorant. There isnt any more Kool Moe Dees or Curis Blows or KRS-1s or Public Enemys.
If anything, Stupid Boy most likely listened to Nas anyway, he just wants to start beef cuz it’ll get him more publicity. I hope Nas smack him like Maino smacked Yung Burg.
    Ignorant ass black men.

  • His moms probably dont give a damn as long as she got a house, car and money. Women need to stop raisin thier sons to take money for being ignorant.

  • this kid has a point, but his clear lack of intelligence takes away from his “message”. soulja Boy isn’t even hip-hop, he’s hip-POP. while all rap doesn’t have to be deep and socially conscious, people like him need to learn the meaning behind other’s words before commenting on them. There has always been hip-hop like Nas since Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five did “The Message” back in 1982. rapping has always been about lyrical skills, even if you were making fun rhymes simply to party to, or you were rhyming about serious stuff. now almost all mainstream hip-hop is generic, talking about nothing fun or serious, just the same old bling, drugs, hoes, cars, killing, and haters, which is why Nas said Hip-Hop is Dead in the first place.

  • This fool is clearly an idiot. I get what he saying about the rappers saying stuff and their fans believing it, but he reached so far up into the skies with “Nas killed Hip Hop.” From the “thank you slavemasters” to this is really appalling. And Nas didn’t start the “Hip Hop is DEAD” concept. Lil Wayne didn’t start the “Best Rapper Alive” concept, either. That’s how you know this young fool knows sh*t about the Hip Hop movement. It’s funny how he said, “sometimes you have to watch what you say and bite your tongue”. Take your own advice, kid.

  • Soldia-bit*h the clue phone is ringing… pick it up…. It’s for you!

  • “Rap is something you do Hip Hop is something you live” -quote KRS one
1st off to even call any rappers who made money in the last 10 years “Hip Hop” is a travesty (there are few exceptions but I can count them on one hand) yes they rap and they are rappers but they are not Hip Hop they do rap music not Hip Hop music. Hip hop has a message that either exposes corupption in society or in ones self it uplifts and shines despite the world around it. It does not glorify the violence but it uses it at the backdrop to a larger sickness in our selves in society. these cats Soulja boy etc… glorify degrade and pander and trade their soul for record sales he has records dissing education and then laughs thru the disclaimer this cat is clown and I should not even waste a minute on him but here I am. My only question is that if someone dug up a time capsule 100 years from now do you really want the records out today to describe Hip Hop not me and anybody thinking about making a records should listen to “Still standing” By the Goodie MOB (play close attention to Ceelo verse)this is your oral testment to the world is this what you want to be remember for?

  • If “ignorance is bliss” then this child – (still a child….. is hellafied happy. Somebody…take him under your wing. Teach him. School him on hip-hop and how “Superman that ho” ain’t gonna pay bills within the next 3-4 years.

Po’ thang. Bless him heart. Bless him wee wittle heart. Bless him all up and thru him chest area. Him don’t know no beddah and ain’t not a friend of his (who are eat-a-ring BTW) gonna say nary a word.

    Bless him heart.

  • First of all, he like so many others don’t really know what Nas meant when he said Hip-Hop is dead. Nas was really talking about the commercialization and corporation of hip-hop. Secondly, Souljah Boy ISN’T hip-hop. He’s pop at best, and to make matters worse, his career is already over with and God Love him, he doesn’t even know it. It’s a new year and no one is doing his silly little dance anymore, he’ll finally figure it out in ‘09! He better be careful, Nas still has the power to lyrically destroy someone like him.
