Gosh just because your pigment is a shade higher does not classify you as prettier or better. What’s up with black folks these days (men esp.) Man we fell to sleep. Back in the 70s darkskin/every skin color was BEAUTIFUL then after MLK and X died we fell to sleep and start hating one another again. Blk ppl lets grow up! We have a Mixed Prez (lighskinned whatever) with a Dark skin (beautiful!) wife and beautiful babies in office. Step ya self love game up.

Why the hell does everybody up in here feel like people are’nt allowed to have preferences?
Some people feel attracted to asians, others to blacks, some might like em caucasian or mixed etc.
It has nothing to do with “self-hatred”, its just a preference.
We’re all just people, all races have goodlooking people.
What makes a person (physically) attractive is not just their skintone, its their facial features, body shape, hair color/length/type.. The color/shape of their eyes etc.
Darkskinned girls are pretty to people that like their typical features, bi-racial people are pretty to folks that like their typical features, same goes for caucasians etc..
Let people have their preference it has nothing to do with selfhatred, racism or ignorance. Its just how nature works, you cant change who you’re naturally attracted to.
Stop the ignorance and let people just have their opinions.

It is ingrained into more people’s mindset than we know or want to admit. It is ignorant, but it may be his perception and preference. Heavy sigh. I feel for him although I never bought any of his music. I did ban Wesley Snipes when he talked about sistahs sideways though. Wake up people.

I don’t know where he’s been but I have seen some ugly ass light and dark people in my time. Complexion generally has no impact on how good looking one is, its all in the mind. Men like Ne-yo have deep self-hatred issues that’s why they choose to only date women who are like a million shades lighter than them.
No wonder why he’s always harping on about being blackanese when both his parents are visably black. Neyo might be talented but he’s a self-hating FOOL!

Having a preference is different than being ignorant. Everyone has a preference but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to say one complexion is prettier than the other. I am light skinned and I don’t think that just because of my shed I’m better looking than someone who is darker. It’s pure ignorance and shows how he has a deep seeded self hatred for himself. And Yes he is dissing his mother because I’m sure his mother is darker skinned or his sister or someone in his family. So basically what he’s saying is they are not attractive. What a crock of bullsh*t!! Beauty is not about a person’s complexion and quite frankly not all light skinned people are cute.. That’s a LIE! That just shows how ignorant he is. What he needs to do like someone said is come out the closet.

there’s a difference between having a preference and being ignorant – i do agree w/ that. but to have a preference it would be wise to say, “i generally go for [insert preference]” dont just generalize an entire group of people..
and to Donny…what are dark features..b/c i happen to be darkskinned and id like to know what “typical” features I should be sporting…

Now, this offcourse isnt the case with every every black/african person.
People in Africa have roamed around and about the continent for ages, they have inter-acted and mixed with other races (arabs, for the most part ) since the worlds first few migrations.
Evidence of such is most visible in North-Africa (Morocco, egypt etc.)
As you look at sub saharan black africans you’ll see that the facial features described earlier, are much more present compared to black North-Africans.
This offcourse has to do with the fact that North-Africans might culturaly be classified as Africans but cant racialy. Do the fact that they’re Not completely negroid nor caucasian, They’r Bi-racial.
Because of that they show facial features that are a clear mixture of both the negroide and caucasian race (longer noses, straighter hair, bronzed skincolor).
Now once again not ALL dark skined “black” people have those generalised stereotypical features, due to the fact that in the US per example most black people arnt completely negroid (even the darker skinned amongst us).
They way nature mixes is one that isnt consistent, over the years your dna might’ve made sure that your skin kept dark while your facial features might show some of your white ancestor traits. Same goes for hair, eye color etc.
Same goes for dominicans, puerto ricans, brazilians etc. even if they’re considderd to be “black” their physicall features usually state a different fact, they’re mixed/bi-racial.
Often (racialy speaking) just as much black as they are white (arab), native american etc.
Yet for some reason we’ll always keep calling people like halle berry, barack hussein obama, lauren londen etc Black.
When they could easily been seen as white cause they’re just as much black as they are white.

I agree with some thoughts above, there is a difference between stating your own preference and then going and stating what COLOR is prettier than another as if your speaking a fact. I’m a light skinned mexican and in my family I have cousins that are from African ancestry to blond blue eyes from European Ancestry. I do not personally have a preference in any color because to me beauty is beauty despite color, but that’s just me. Though I’m glad he spewed his ignorance loud enough to keep me from supporting anything he does. I hope more that feel such things are as verbal so I can distant my money from them.
By the way, it was mid this year that my dark beautiful black friend was told by a white guy in SAN DIEGO “Damn, your pretty for a dark Ni—”

so to say “the prettiest kids are lightskinned” basically says “the ugly kids are usually the black ones”
