November 12, 2008 ‘V’ & Kanye Talks About RiRi/Beyonce
The lovely Beyonce covers the #56 issue of V magazine, out this week. Beyonce is bringing out the fierceness the best way she knows how, Sasha style. Recently, Kanye West comment on the best thing for Beyonce right now.
“This is a wakeup call … people in music get comfortable … Rappers get comfortable…Rihanna was the best thing to happen to Beyonce”, referring to Rihanna’s rise to stardom suggesting Beyonce had to set the musical bar higher. Kanye believed that Beyonce did this with her new video “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. He expressed his respect and love for it, while saying it was a concept that he never would have come up with. The Hip Hop Chronicle UK

I think when we put these girls against each other (talent wise) its a good thing, we do get better music (plus more gossip)
Its not about black ppl hating either, you see it with Chris and Brit, or with Lindsey and Hilary…its just fun!

 I was waiting for someone of substand to point it out and God dammit someone finally caught on. I think Kanye is dead on. Rihanna really changed the game because she drastically changed her sound where as Beyonce still has yet to give us something different than what we’ve come to expect from her. This album is basically a dumbed down contiuation of BDay. And Kanye should have also given credit to Justin Timberlake and Timberland because I think the new sound shift in music started with them. I’m a die hard fan of all four but I know when I’ve heard the same thing one twice three times already. I was expecting a lot more than what Beyonce put on this album. It’s not totally disappointing but it is lacking!

It just breaks my heart when i think of whats happened to Jennifer Sullivan. My best wishes go out to her but i can’t help but think that such a horrible tragedy hadn’t have happened it would no doubt be Beyonce Who? Jennifer is one of the greates talents to grace music since the downfall of Whitney Houston and I hope she can overcome and continue to bless her with her amazing voice. Luv you Jennifer.

The hatas type so fast..lol. Anywho, RIHANNA NEVER HAD ANYTHING ON BEYONCE. My love works with music and I’ve seen all the tricks to make someone sound good. and I bet if you put Rihanna and beyonce right in front of you, no technology, Beyonce will blow you away. But then again that comes with your preference. Personally, I prefer Beyonce

i agree. it’s not hating. this is the kind of stuff that makes artist come up with different styles/images and switch up their music. i’m really not feeling anything on bey’s new album (i LOVED b-day) but i do feel she’s very talented and who knows. it might be something that just has to grow on me. like, i really don’t like “if i were a boy” but i LOVE the video. especially when the roles switch up in the end. and i don’t like “sigle ladies” but i like the video with the black and white and the choreography. she’s doing different things and you can’t hate her for that
i love how simple she’s wearing her hair. she’s a very pretty woman that only needs (in my opinion) something sleek like that

Rihanna can use whatever sound tricks she wants to but she’ll never be at the level of Beyonce..vocally or otherwise. Beyonce doesn’t need Rihanna’s success to motivate her. Beyonce doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone..she’s done that and has topped the game. She did this for her fans and it came from her heart. The “I am” portion of the disc is something totally different from what Beyonce normally does.. so to say that she hasn’t come up with something new is foolish becuase this was out of the box. As for the Sasha Fierce side, we all know it’s classic Beyonce…and she admits that portion of the disc was to give fans something that we have loved her for…for the past few years..so we all know that hasnt changed and we fans don’t want that too. This album is incredible and way above B-day and I have to say even above Dangerously in love. She did an incredible thing with this album and she put in the time and effort to do so.

And another thing….Beyonce doesn’t need all of the tired technical antics to make her sound good..(Rihanna, Britney….Kanye..t-pain) she has the goods to deliver amazing vocals stripped down to acoustics, which she proves on this album. She is pure raw talent..which is sooo very hard to hear these days from anyone! Now im done.

you guys don’t get it. its not about talent. Beyonce music lack quality. Maybe she should stop being so fucking greedy long enough and stop trying to claim that she writes everything and actually went to other writers, her stuff wouldn’t sound so stale. Beyonce is beautiful and she is real lucky that she is because otherwise people would realize just how not smart she is. I’m pretty sure everyone has seen a Beyonce interview by now. Can someone get a sister a dictionary!

Lee i couldn’t havesaid it better. yet i love every artist thats hot now. yet we all know beyonce can deliver. people say shes a copycat, not a trend setter, etc. but all i know is no one can do beyonce like beyonce. to have all these haters and be as reserved, level headed and CLASSY. she maintains her personality in the most mature manner. shes already a international superstar. this album is the perfect way to do it. stepping out of her element and then giving us what we all love and know her for. beyonce will go down in history. as will all the others thats out today, especially rihanna and t-pain cause these people changed the game. all of this will be remembered 20 years from know. cause its the music in the first decade in the 21st century.

Style wise, yes rihanna change the game as far as that but sing, dancing, and performing no!
That is and has always be Beyonce field!Beyonce is a true entertainer in every form. Bee also contributes to her songs written on albums not all but majority.
Songs sang by rihanna are create, but that credits goes more towards the her writers than her.

I not hating on rihanna either she is a pop star @ the moment! She has a lot work before she gets to icon much less legend.
Beyonce is a icon, and legend in the making!

I think Kanye is dead on. We all know Beyonce is a better singer/performer than Rihanna but its not always about that with art..its about being open to change and Rihanna’s versatility is what has landed her at the top right now. I think the same thing happened with Mariah in terms of Whitney Houston. When Whitney was in the game Mariah had some competition so she brought it more and now that Whitney is gone she’s gotten lazy and doesn’t really challenge herself as much.

I will be so glad when Nov 18 comes, not because I am running out to buy Bey’s CD. But all this over rated promotion is killing me. I have not blog since Oct 31, because from that day on every damn blog has at least 50 unoriginal poses of her. It is like if you do not like her we are going to make you…then they have added a bonus; Solange, just when I thought she had crawl back in her hideaway spot..Wham she is back on the scene.
As for Rhianna her singing is not that great it could be her accent, but her style and fresh looks took over.
To be honest Beyonce new CD sound like some shit you would expect Rhianna to be singing.

How can you classify someone as “not smart”? Saying that isn’t very smart of you. She’s not doing presidential interviews. Her interviews are full of personality and shows just how down to earth she is. Perfection isn’t neccessary to obtain greatness. Secondly, Beyonce doesn’t claim to write things she doesn’t. If you would watch enough of her interviews to catch her when she actually tells her fans how she was inspired and who did what…then you wouldn’t listen to “gossip”. Lastly, most artists obtain inspiration from past artists for their music, and that doesn’t make any of them less talented or smart for that matter. Is it a crime for someone else to write your music every once and a while …or period..I think not. Whether they write it themselves or not..it’s her singing, it’s her doing the rest of the work..there’s no law or decree that says a music artists has to write ALL of their music. It’s how they bring it to life that makes them incredible.

As much as I hate Bee’s world domination, Kanye must have gotten some good head from RiRi to say something like this. RiRi’s voice is pleasant, but she’s not great. She didn’t reach stardom until “Umbrella”. I’m sorry, but Ri doesn’t do it for me.
And I do agree, This “sasha fierce” cd is nothing new. Its not that different from B’Day. And lets be real here, Bee says the same thing every cd, ” I’ve grown, I’m different, This time I’M PUTTING MYSELF OUT THERE”, ummmm didn’t you say this before B’day hit the stores? I’m not saying Bee isn’t talented, she’s JUST VERY OVERRATED.

how someone who’s mad her mark with dance records, CANT DANCE!!..lol
Beyonce will need to raise the bar higher, and she will…
its a shame that people dont know the difference between a product and real talent…
P.S Rihanna is a black britney spaears, and she aint did sh!t to her image but look like fefe dobson, and pick been cut her hair like that…

What people don’t understand is that if you take away the outfits, the big hair, the makeup, the affects, the dancing and anything else, you’d still have amazing talent strong vocal beyonce, but when that stuff is taken away from Rihanna what would you’d have? Think about it. People don’t really see the difference between a beyonce and a rihanna. We know Beyonce’s style, as for rihanna, she goes with the flow. Pon De Replay anyone? Umbrella? Two different things.
As for Kanye, I agree that people do get comfotable in this industry, that’s why most music sounds the same and is nothing new. Not Beyonce though. Beyonce does grow on every album, and this album doesn’t sound that of any other of her albums. Who else do we know in the entertainment business can do a video dancing nonstop from begining to end?? She’s pulling out all stops for this album.

Lee, I’ve watched Beyonce interviews and there is no personality in them. I swear that girl is a robot!
Also, she totally claimed to write Irreplaceable and Ne-yo had to set the record straight. Then she changed her story. There’s nothing wrong with having other people write the songs, but there is something wrong with stealing credit.

Someone has got to tell me which song Rihanna came with that changed her style? Because if you say “Umbrella” I’m gonna say FAIL! Please, Umbrella is a pop song, like all the other pop songs that she sung before it. Artistically I just don’t see it but I understand what Kanye is saying. Bey needed a change and it maybe due to Rihann’s coming on the scene (not artistically though) just her prescene on the scene. Bey had to change in order to be able to continue being the powerhouse she is because being static was just not helping. It started with B’day. I like Rihanna’s style, her music is alright (annoying mostly) but I cant knock her hustle.

beyonce is my everything. my all. she’s the jam and as much as kanye rants he always tellsthe truth! rhianna is a lackluster talent at best, and while we bullishin she ain’ created nathan either. she was the typical sista and “her handlas” designed the edgy look and it was a crapshoot. and it paid off. beyonce is supertalented. i’ve seen her live and she’s THE ONLY chic in the game singin LIVE and shakin her shimmy in heels. this is no doubt the result of her joe jackson of a pappy but she’s still supa maja! anybody that doesn’t give the clean queen b her proppas is stupid. yea i said it! u won’t fight me!
