I remember last year I was like “America ain’t ready” WHAT THIS RACE HAS DONE! It opened my eyes and made me realize, racism is still present but it has deteriorated enough to HAVE A black president. I remember my father telling me stories of his old neighborhood and segregation back then (he was born 1940) and I’m like WOW…we came far. Let me not get my hopes up…
but after Jan 20? then what?

I am from Barbados and i am up watching the elections i have been following from the beginnning…the world is watching and i think this is the change not only for the USA but for the entire world , voting in Obama was the first part but after tonight people of the USA have to make some drastic changes and work with Obama to get done what needs to be done and make his presidency the best ting ever
In our local paper today they even had a guide so u can track the elections
so people of the USA stand up and continue to do what you have done tonight and that is “bring change to the world” congrats
peace out

I remember when talk was going on last year, I was like there will never be a black president in my time…and Im only 20 years old. Who would have thunk it….a YEAR later…..Senator Barack Obama is on his way to becoming the next President…a BLACK MAN!!!! Absolutely amazing! Thank you America for GETTING IT RIGHT! I may not be American…but the whole world has been affected by the decisions made by the President Bush…finally there is chance for some kind of change, getting the U.S back on track and getting the world back on track. Hell at least as an American hopefully now if you go to another country…no one will want to shoot you up!
GET IT OBAMA!!! He may not change the U.S overnight…but he can most certainly get it back on track and get it going forward.

My legs felt like steel as I walked up the steps to vote. I literally was reduced to tears when I pressed Obama. My dreams, my parents dreams, and my grandparents dreams were no loger. Our reality is what we always wished for. Man….that is an amazing feeling.

I’m from MS ( a red state) but I voted for Obama! I come from a family that was deeply rooted in the civil rights movement so for me this is what my grandparents and so many others gave their lives and blood for. I’ve never felt more proud to be any American.

I was just reminded of the fact that just 2 years ago, people would ask, “Do you think that you will ever live to see a black president?” We never thought it could happen. But it has! God is SO awesome! Please continue to pray for the protection of the Obama family, their friends and families, and just America period. Hate is still very much present in this country. So we must continue to stay prayerful! YES WE CAN….AND WE DID!!!!!

I just wanted to express how joyous this moment is to me. This is my first time voting and I am so grateful to be able to be a part of history. My proudest moment today was being able to watch my grandmother shed tears of joy. From being apart of the civil rights movement and living through segregation to voting for America’s first Black President today, has me feel that my vote really DID do something. A change is coming and I am so proud to be apart of it.

I’ve never cried for a president until today and yes they were tears of joy! Never really cared about the elections before, but I have always exercised my right to vote since I was 18! Electing President Obama into office is a positive reflection of the consciousness of our country. We are ready to shed old negative thought patterns and actions and move forward and step into the being that God truly wants us to be. God has plans for this country and this world if we continue to live life with our eyes and ears open!!!
I currently live in Harlem and as soon as it was announced that Barack Obama is now president, crowds spilled out into this streets. I live in a neighborhood where it is a mixture of Bloods (the gang), blacks, Dominicans, young professionals, and Columbia Students. Everyone was talking and celebrating with each other. IT was beautiful….Change is beautiful and our new first family is beautiful!!!
Peace and Blessings to all and welcome to a new change in consciousness!!!

I want Obama to “take us higher” – NOT the Lord.
The Lord and all other religious references have already got us into enough Wars & trouble.
I voted for Obama.
I hope he’s guided by PEOPLE – not God, Angels, Aliens or Fairies.
Let’s have some HUMAN power!
Fingers crossed he doesn’t do what the last 43 Presidents have done in the past.

I am so happy and proud to be an American Citizen. To live to see a black educated man in office, gives me nothing but hope and most of all will power to be all I can be, and have more out of life. Obama has not only made history but he has opened up doors for Blacks, Latinos, Cubans, Whites, Chinese, and all other race to keep striving for more. All I have to say is Thanks to God, we all can over come!

Being in Grant Park in Chicago for such a historic moment was truly a surreal experience. When Obama finally took the stage with his beautiful wife and adorable daughters there was an overwhelming sense of pride. I am so thankful that I was able to be apart of something so important. Yes we can!! Yes we can! I really felt like that was his “I Have a Dream” speech. Go Barack! What a great evening!

Do any of you Fellow Love Muffins remember all the convos we had on our lives of what it would be like if we had a black president? I know you remember, and the inevitable doubt that followed:
“Mmmmmmm-Hmmmmmmmm! Not in this country!”
I tell you, this grin plastered on my face; when i think about it, wont be changing residence in the weeks to come!
Oh NO Ma’am, WE CAN!!

This is a historic event and I’m just glad that I was a part of it. I never thought this would happen during my time and I’m still young. I just never thought in a hundred years this was going to happen. A black family in the white house. I don’t care that Obama is mixed and Michelle is whatever percent Haitian. THEY ARE BLACK! LOL We were ready for change, we got it and it’s just the beginning hopefully.

Im am so happy that a DEMOCRAT is in office, I’m really disappointed with the behavior of the republican party especially during McCains speech (all the booing). When our current president won both terms, we (DEMOCRATS) just sucked it up and just prepared ourselves for the next 4 years. SO GET OVER IT PEOPLE… AS OBAMA stated he’s OUR PRESIDENT NOW… He’s in my prayers
