I for one support Beyonce. She seems to be down to earth and grounded. I believe her acting will continue to improve of the course of acting more. I wish her well in this particular movie and her future endeavors. I love Beyonce and I think she deserves a chance to prove herself.

I saw dream girls and I thought she did rather well. But as I said she has to get the experience and eventually she will get better at her craft.

She has my support and I wish her the best.

IMO i think the singing roles are working for Beyonce. Thats what she does. SING. But i dont think we can REALLY down here acting skills until she does a more serious role. So when Obsessed comes out next February and she sucks then everyone can say how much Bey cant act. Until then i love her in everything she has been in so for EXCEPT for Pink Panther, Carmen, and Gold Member.

i agree with most of what you said Tyron…except for the fact that she doesnt have the training. Because as I said, Alicia Keys doesn’t have the training but naturally she is better at transforming herself into the character. But i definately agree that her name gets her the offers, and if shes interested and really wants to do it why should she let someone else take it.

Beyonce has the potential to be a good actress and the work ethic. You guys have to realize that Beyonce is just starting out as an actress and she didnt get the years of training acting greats had. And so what if she gets major roles. Her name gets her the offers and the money makes her sign the contracts. i aint mad at her.

Uhum, the point of playing the role of Etta James is not to look attractive, its to channel Etta’s energies and characteristics. She will do her a “hugh justice” if her acting abilities makes her believable in the part.

well, i don’t think bey should be ashamed of herself. hell, if somebody asked me to play etta i’d do it. but yes, IN MY OPINION, bey is not a good actress. i didn’t like her in gold member, dreamgirls, carmen (ugh!!! i HATED carmen!!) but when she turns into “sasha” on stage, i love her.

First off, I cannot believe that I am a part of a comment thread about Beyonce Knowles – I am not a big enthusiast. While her acting skills certainly aren’t on the level of a ….say….Angela Bassett, Miss Knowles is a fine entertainer. She’s great at what she DOES! What’s wrong with her getting work? If Bey didn’t grab the singer/actress roles, they’d just get another singer to do it. I think she’s probably aware that she won’t be cast to star in a Maya Angelou biopic, so why not continue to do what she does BEST? There is no acting “evolution/transformation” in the equation. At least not yet! But how is she to get THERE without EXPERIENCE? In the meantime, I’m not going to tear her down.

I just think its sad that talented and qualified african-american actresses struggle to get roles, whilst beyonce who is known for being a bad actress is given roles that she doesn’t deserve to play! She should be ashamed of herself! She only gets these roles because she is a strong force in the entertainment industry. If she cared about black women she wouldn’t do steal their jobs.

i really hope to see a transformation with this role…i am a huge fan of Beyonce and her music but i never felt like her acting was up to par. Although she did improve in Dreamgirls…and I agree I do feel like she needs to stop doing music roles if she really wants to progress. Like my girl Alicia Keys…who did a fab job in the Secret Life of Bees….B Scott did you check the movie out???

I read she was also signed to play Eartha Kitt!! But she’s certainly “channeling” a young Etta James in these pictures. Let’s see if she can pull it off on-screen.

I hope that she stops playing roles that involve singing because she will stay typecast into roles that don’t show her evolution. Anyways, I still like her.
