October 9, 2008 Double Take: Kenley vs McQueen
Last night on Bravo’s Project Runway Season 5 finalist section episode Michael Kors and Nina Garcia called Kenley’s wedding dress a Alexander McQueen knock-off. Yeah, I see the similarities. But I also see the differences. Similar materials and fabrics, but different silhouettes. So love muffins what are your thoughts and which dress do you like better overall? Note: Kenley, Korto and Leanne were selected as the three finalist and Jerrel was sent home.

Yo, It was a complete knock off…I cannot believe they sent J home…he was a lil out there…but his creativity was unmatched on that show…one “bad” showing should not discount all his previous work….I think it was crap…Kenley does not suck,but she is not Bryant park material…yet…Keep ya head up J…

Wow! I didn’t realize the dress was the EXACT same color palette and everything. She should’ve been booted! I loved Jerrell!!!

Hands down Alexander McQueen is the best at what he does. Kenley’s dress is nice as well but McQueen Has a more haute couture look. The one bad thing about Kenley though, is that this is the second time that she has been called out about her designs already being seen like with the “avant garde” project that she did.

Jerell proved himself to be a star. However, his elimination this week made me question the legitimacy of his “win” last week. Kenley’s wedding dress looks like it was plucked out of the pages of Mother Goose. (Sorry Alexander McQueen.)

This show came on last night so does it actually qualify as a spoiler? Anyway… I really dislike Kenley’s attitude and Im sorry everything she does looks the same. Thanks for posting the two pictures because I didnt know what he meant but wow I see why he said that. Jerells dress needed some improvement and I cant say that I was impressed with what I saw from his collection but he deserved it more.

OMFG! That dress is almost the exact same! I can’t believe they let Kenley get away with that and sent my sweet Jerrell home. Turkeys!

Oh c’mon…that’s basically the SAME dress. I love her and all but that’s the same d@mn dress. I like Jerrel’s wedding and bridesmaid dresses better but Korto had some nice pieces in her collection.

It’s barely different. Unless you count McQ’s asymmetrical hem and Kenley’s piling-on of tulle, what is really the difference? McQueen’s is better crafted and cleaner at the edges, of course, but they are essentially the same, down to the color scheme. She claims to never look at designer’s shows/collections, but this one is too darn close to cry coincidence.
I wish they had gotten rid of her last week like they obviously should have…then Jerell would be “at da teyents!”

I think the dresses look strikingly alike. I am not at all a fan of Kenley, and while I don’t know if she copied the design, she seems to have a bad habit of making things that are either ugly, or that have already been done.

There many be differences (very few), but in her case she is a up and coming designer who want to be know for her creations. If she wants to stand out she has to come out with a design that is completely different from anything that is already out right now.
Basically what I am trying to say is the fashion world is harsh and her trying to pretend look there are no similarites between the styles is ridiculous….she should have went home because that is not the first time she did something like that on the show before.

Ok… now this pissed me off. How in the hell did those judges pick Kenley over Jarrell?!! That ugly ass sh** she was making through the entire show. Then she copies another designers dress and they let her ass go to Fashion Week, thats Bullsh**!!!!

Although I did think Jerrel’s wedding dress was a bit of a mess, at least it was original. Now that I see the McQueen dress, its apparent that she copied it. And her attitude sucks. She’s so freaking disrespectful to Tim Gunn, who’s only trying to help and all the critiques he gave her last week were the exact same things the judges call her on. I hope she loses!!!

please this show is suspect anyway because the season Kara Sun didnt win i was kinda too through with the show. micheal kors said Kara Sun copied gucci and non of her stuff is original. hell everybody take from everybody and even micheal kors have some shit ive seem before.

As a fashion designer it is important that we keep our creativity alive. It is the rule of thumb you do not copy other designers work. I have been designing professionally for over 20 years. He should have known better. it was the same color, texure, simular textiles, He just added more netting he should be ashamed. This happened before on project runway when they designed for another celebrity
