October 2, 2008 Jay-Z Receives Award!
Update: For all of you Jay-Z fans, he is throwing two free concerts this weekend. On October 4th, he will perform at the Detroit’s Cobo Arena and on Sunday, he will make his way to Miami’s Bayfront Park Amphitheatre. Voter registration for the upcoming election ends Monday. In New York City Wednesday night, Jay-Z received his Global Leadership Award at the 2008 Global Leadership Awards gala at the Waldorf-Astoria Wednesday for his visionary leadership of the “Water for Life” and his partnership with the United Nations. Way to go Jay-Z! Catherine Zeta-Jones also attended the event. View more pictures after the jump –

It’s great that he got this award for what he’s done for Africa and the lack of water they have over there. My mother and I donated to the cause after seeing his documentary. And it’s also great to see a rapper getting acknowledged for charitable actions and not criminal ones for once.
