Take me higher lord! As previously posted, Britney Spears will indeed kick off the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday and here’s what she had to say!

“MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs?” Britney said in a statement to MTV. “I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

Can you believe that, despite her sixteen past nominations, she has never won a VMA? This year Brit-Brit is up for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video for her single “Piece of Me.”

We all remember her disastrous performance of “Gimme More” at last year’s VMAs, and on that note Britney will not open this year’s show with a performance. CONTINUE READING

Here is Ciara’s official cover promo for her new single “Go Girl” off of her upcoming LP Fantasy Ride. It reminds me of a comic book. I wonder if that is the direction of the music video. Danity Kane’s music video concept was about the ladies being in a comic book, and the video turned out great! Maybe Ciara will film an out of the box music video. Thoughts?

Jessica Simpson’s marriage to Nick Lachey was so endearing and beautiful, but it was short! Luckily Jessica is strong and willing to walk down the aisle again. In an interview with Fox News Jessica said “I would love to be making records and making babies, and hopefully I’m married in 10 years, I have the dreams of every normal person.” Even though Jessica has dreams of having a family she’s very busy working on her country album which will be released September 9th. One of the songs on the new album is called “Remember That.” The song is about an abusive relationship. Jessica has said “There’s nothing on my album … that I don’t relate to or that I haven’t experienced.”

Super star heiress Paris Hilton forced organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival to cancel two screenings of her new documentary. She did it to raise the hype/profile of the film. Paris, Not France – is a documentary that shares a behind-the-scenes look at her life. Two advance screenings were scrapped, because the Paris wants to only host one showing because she believes it will create “more hype”.

Her representative Jason Moore tells New York Post gossip column PageSix

“We wanted to create more buzz – create some hype. We felt the impact would be more extreme if we had one screening. She is a partner with the documentary and will be attending Tuesday’s screening in support of it.”

Festival programmer Thom Powers said that the organizers are not happy about the decisions that are being made but they have no choice but to obey Paris’ instructions. Thom commented on the situation.

“I wish we could do more, but it’s better than not showing it at all.”

I commend Thom and the others on their patience and willingness to work with Paris. Thoughts?
