September 5, 2008 Want Fame? Get Reality!
Everyday it seems a new star emerges, but they’ve achieved a level of super stardom by being themselves, or some variation of it. Reality shows are spitting out “stars” left and right. Many people are going on reality shows to introduce their characters and make a name for themselves not for the million dollar prize or the a title as “the next best something”. One person in particular would be “Jonny Fairplay” a.k.a Jon Dalton.
I feel personally that I raped reality television and I’m happy about that. The million dollars was never my primary goal. My goal was to create the character of ‘Jonny Fairplay’ and keep that character on television for as long as possible.
Jon said he receives $2,000 to $15,000 to appear at nightclubs, conventions, and on other TV shows. With that income he’s able to afford a three-bedroom house in his hometown of Danville, Va. and the ability to care for his wife and baby daughter. Love muffins there are just too many people to name who have become famous off of reality television. Some we may forget about in a few months, others we’ll remember longer. What do you think about stars emerging from something that wasn’t really designed to make stars?

I think that it is ridiculous! like seriously… there are thousands of citizens n the us that have PURE raw TALENT.. but stud execs would rahter waist their moola on wanna-be has beens- rather than invest it in the fundementals of what Hollywood was once based upon. I understand that it’s all entertainment.. and there are different strokes for different folks.. but one can only help to stop and think… people wonder why their kids are growing up and gettin into sh!t more and more as time goes on.. why test scores of the nation have tumbled and why teen pregnancy rates have sky rocketed… its because tv land has exploited its right ot freedom of speech and tapped into the less than creative expressionism of the lackluster reality boob tube (no pun intended. It really is diasapointing that there are very few shows that are as entertaining and reminiscent of those glorious old school sanford and son, sonny and cher, taxi, cheers, living single, a different world, gun smoke, ect.. days :/
