August 29, 2008 Mariah Carey’s Fourth Single Is?
Love muffins, rumor has it that Mariah Carey’s fourth single will be “I’m That Chick”. I think that is a great song, but I just don’t feel it has the potential to be a hit. I personally would have chosen “4 Real 4 Real” as her next single. But hopefully, “I’m That Chick” will do well for her. What do you think her fourth single should be?

Being a big fan of Mariah Carey for many years, and expecting a mammoth hit of an album after the success ‘Emancipation’ E=MC2 in simple terms was terribly written and she should never have been allowed to write all of the songs. Her label obviously thought that as she was Mariah she would sell, whereas her figures show otherwise. This album sounds like it was written by a 12 year old, with no meaning and thought put into the lyrics. I was very dissapointed and to be fair the only song that caught my ear was ‘Side Effects’ and I am guessing that is because I coudl relate to the lyrics which she had obviously written from the heart. I’m That Chick is something that you write at home bored as a spoof… she really needs to get on track and remember she is nearly 40…

First I have to say this, B. Scott I am sorry because I know you are a die hard fan, but as a fan myself we have to come to the reality that, Mariah has lost it! Whether its the vocal decline or just bad judgement in choice of material, this album is nowhere nears as good as Emancipation. Its more like Charmbracelete 2. the songs are mediocre and the vocal ability of which we love her for is lost in translation. Mariah should take a look at her last effort and say to herself, well which songs were selling my albums, and not which song I like so Im going to release. Songs on this album like ‘Love Story’ ‘Thanx 4 Nothin’ ‘OOC’ These are classic Mariah. Mariah needs to get back into writing ear worthy material, songs that moved you from first listen to last note. I listened to MUSIC BOX the other day and was like I can not believe this is the same artist.
Def Jam put all of the money behind Mariah and she’s turning out to be a disappointment Everysingle since Touch my Body has been a flop. Radio stations arent even playing them, at least not from NY TO NC they arent. Im rooting for her trust me I am. BUT with each single I get a little more nervous…lol

Basically what everyone here said is my basic idea in a nutshell. I personally would LOVE to hear O.O.C as the next single. It’s funny, as I began to write this, O.O.C came on my iPod. Though songs like ‘Migrate’ and ‘I’m that Chick’ are marketable songs. Espeically Migrate with the growth of T Pains success. I won’t be surprised if it’s the next single. O.O.C ALL THE WAY. OUT OF CONTROL BABY. ALTHOUGH WE’VE BOTH MOVED ON TO ANOTHER, STILL LONG FOR EACH. XD Sorry, had to do it.

Also, 4real 4real can’t be a single. To my knowledge, it was a Japan only bonus track. It wouldn’t be smart at all to have a single that isn’t even on the American CD.

I think “I’m That Chick” is a great choice, it’s different than anything she’s put out before so it shows a new side of her. Next should be “I Stay In Love”.

“I wish you well” Is a amazing song but it it lacks a overall sound. Meaning that it wouldn’t be a hit because it’s tempo isn’t exactly made for radio and the “main stream” ears. Something like “I still in love” with a slight hip hopness (I suppose) will be a hit.

I disagree with Jorgie, “4real 4real” could be a single (see Disturbia by Rihanna as the most recent example!) it would also drive sales for a possible “E=MC2″ re-release.
I don’t mind her releasing “I’m that chick” and personally think it’s too late in the summer for her to have “Cruise Control” as her next single. The song I most enjoy is “Side Effects”, but that’s really a reason for her NOT to release it. I don’t want to get tired of the song – I wanna listen to it at my convenience and not be bombarded with it due to a high chart position.
Any news on a E=MC2 Tour B?

mariah needs to SING, thats what she is known for her voice and it is no where to be found on the cd. And her “live” performances were horrible, the only thing that can save this cd is Migrate or I stay in love or else put a fork in it

I think this album is really good!! Still the singles are really bad;/ I hoped for I stay in love or my personal favorite – For the record, but they have chosen the song that I really don’t like so much. And because of that I won’t believe the album will succeed:>

Yea I love that song but, i agree i dont think it has hit potential. i honestly don’t think any of her songs off this album are hit potential. i was a little disappointed at this new album after the emancipation. i expected much better than this

If she releases “I’m That Chick” the album is officially “over.” That would be a horrible single choice. “Thankx for Nothing” needs to be the next single or “Migrate” because its pretty impossible not to like those songs. “Thankx for Nothing” shows her ability to showcase vulnerability and longing in her voice and the hook and range are incredible! And “Migrate” is just pure fire!
Once again it just goes to show that although I think Mariah is unbelievably gifted she needs people in her corner to direct her in the right path. Left to her own devices she can make some foolish commerical decisions.

Best album after Butterfly, worst era though. Lyrically, its meant to be fun, her personality. When she wants to be a writing genius, she’s capable of it.
As for “she needs to sing” people bitch when she is belting and bitch when she sings in a lower register (this album) .
Her voice has been going downhill since Butterfly. Its hasn’t been OMFG WOW since the Charmbracelet tour and before then, Glitter.

Actually I heard ‘I’m that chick’ will go to certain stations for play but it wont be her 4th single.
I really doubt I’m that chick will be released in the US that would be a dumb move. It will work better in Europe then here. I’m not feeling this era at all and I’ve been with MC since ‘VOL’.

Music Box is boring as hell (aside from Dreamlover and Anytime You Need A Friend). If she kept doing that, then I wouldn’t be a fan
As for this album, everything is going to flop so at least put the best songs out.
She wanted Migrate as the 1st single, LA wanted ITC ; they compromised. It should have been the 2nd single.
Her marriage was the worse timing as for as her career goes
As for right people in her corner, she doesn’t need anyone to dictate her work or take over. Its hers. If she wants to sing about Migrating, then thats her right.
For the next album I do hope she goes back to the deeper, darker, story telling writing (Butterfly album)

OK…”I’m That Chick”…yes it’s a great song, but not single-worthy. She needs to release “Side Effects,” “Love Story,” or “MIgrate”. Those are the only ones I see having more success the the current and previous one.
I don’t know what was going on with the album. I was OK but it seems as if it wasn’t “her”. She needs to go back to the Mimi we love (Butterfly, EMOM) and create songs that inspire, motivate, and uplift (Hero, My All, Butterfly, etc). That’s why she needs to work with Walter Afanasieff some more and JD less (even though We Belong Together and Always Be MY Baby were great).
After this tour ish, she needs to sit at home with Nick for at least 2 or 3 years and then cmoe on with another album. Hopefully her voice with be up to par unlike it is in the present. Yall are right when saying she needs to “sing”, better yet “SANG”!!!

I think Mariah next single should be “For The Record” because it’s hott and has a nice energy for a slower song. Plus Mariah said she wanted to follow the same formula as the last album…and its only right to do this song since “Don’t Forget About Us” was the 4th single off the last album. Know what I love about all of this?? Mariah is finally at that stage in her life where she can be truly happy with where her life is at. She has success. She has a wonderful husband. She is having fun with her “fun” record. She is making the calls in her life now, and if they don’t turn out to be as successful as people predict, who cares? She calls the shots in her career and people will have to live with it. She doesn’t need more success. The period in her life where she trys to meet other people’s expectations are over. Don’t get me wrong; she is still extremely successful and she deserves it! Success almost comes effortlessly for her now. I love Mariah’s story. I am so happy for her right now. EXTREMELY happy. There’s nothing better in this world than a truly happy, successful woman. You can see it in her smile. Love it!
Oh, and Mariah is just waiting for the perfect time to release “Migrate”. She knows she has a hit song with that; why do you think it was track 1 on the album? I hope she releases all 13 other tracks as singles before “Migrate” just to spite everyone. Heck, she’s probably in her Moroccan room in her Tribeca apartment Paw-Paw-ing to “Migrate” right now reading all these comments!

Mariah is fabulous and it is evident through songs like Thanx for nothing, for the record, i wish you well, that she is still Mariah but That Chick has been getting more airplay on certain stations in Cleveland than her other singles. For the record would have been better

Ok okay okaaaaaaaay…Sure, her voice is GONE! But,a voice can only hit so many high notes before it turns to dust. I think many of the songs on this album are actually catchy enough to be hits…maybe not memorable hits…but hits. BUT! the singles she has chosen so far have not been. The line up should have been as follows: Touch My Body (the video sold the song), Migrate (perfect summer club anthem), Love Story (We Belong Together Part 2), and OOC (hot cute song).

i definetly agree with the fact that migrate is going to be her next single. i’m sure its going to be a hit because is the most marketable song of the album, but i still think she shoul release i stay in love, cuase we already miss her love balads, and this is a sad one, very touching and so nice.
I wish her next singles will be migrate and then i stay in love, or side effects which i think is the song with the best lyrics.
