While promoting her new album today, Solange told the news anchor basically to not mention her sister Beyonce or her brother-in-law Jay-Z in the interview. The news anchor women seemed stunned. It took a a few seconds to recollect her thoughts. Thoughts?

Solange did get owned but still that gave that reporter NO reason to equate her as trying to ‘get from under her sister’s shadow’ in the introduction. Why can’t they just address her as a new artist. Why do they always have to make it be about her trying to come from under Beyonce’s shadow. I look at it as this, Solange wants to do this on HER OWN. She don’t need no big names to back up her legitimacy or to hurt her legitimacy. I personally like a few songs on her album but I think if she wasn’t associated with Beyonce she would do better because people expect her to be like Beyonce and there’s this thing where they expect too much since someone she’s associated with is so great.

Please that girl has been riding Beyonce’s titty for how long now? She has been in her videos, performed with her on awards show and even danced background for destiny’s child, I think she needs to cut the bull. I have to agree though with some of the above posters, B. it seems like you are focusing more on smoozing with the celebs rather than give us your words of wisdom and classic reads. Not to take away from your interviewing skills, but these celebs are not saying nothing we haven’t heard before.

I’m a bit disappointed. I like Solange because she’s not afraid to be herself, but she didn’t have the right to disrespect that reported. She was the one who was “very unprofessional.” I like her and I’m rooting for her, but she doesn’t need to come off like that because she’ll make people not want to work with her in the future. Maybe she’s trying really hard to be the opposite of B, but don’t ruin your rep in the process, dearie. I really do like you, Solo! But… I think she should have apologized because she was mistaken. The lady didn’t even say anything about J!

Ya’ll are so silly. It is not that serious to not pick up an album (a good one at that) becuz of this mess. There’s more. Something was said off air that she didn’t like and she thought it was on air. Big deal. She’s there to talk about herself & her work not her family. I aint mad at her for speaking her mind. Could she have said it better or address it off air air? Sure but she didn’t. Mistakes – we all make them.

I have to say that she could have handled that a little better. She’s a Knowles, she’s familiar with the proper way to respond to negative things in an interview (too bad nobody even heard what was said about Jay).
It’s quite hypocritical to say that Solange is not stepping out of Bey’s shadow when she made an album in an effort to be different and even said on a freestyle “I’m no Beyonce”. Who else is she trying to be different from? A D-lister? Naw. The #1 R&B chick, her sister.
And she sorta kinda blew Bey’s spot up by calling Jay her “brother-in-law”.

I think that solange could have handled herself better? yes! I’m the only one who realized 3 major things.
1. She did reason that the said what they said off air and not on.
2. We do not know what was said.Whether any thing was cut out when she was on air, from my understanding of situation, they want to bring up bee and jay’s personal when it was suppose to be about her album.
3. The station that she was on, it was fox news people. Did no one listen to nas album or watch fox news is always about rating, profit and looking out for their own interest above all. Look @ the obama coverage, one-sided bitches.

ok…what everyone seems to forget here is that she is tired of being refered to “beyonce’s little sister” or having beyonce’s named mentioned before hers. the interviewer is coming at her like she is just “beyonce’s little sister” and not a talented artist her just released a very unique and official record. why shouldnt solange have addressed that on camera?? the interviewer didnt have any problems bringing it up on camera. she needed to make an example out of her and anyway she wasnt even that disrespectful about it! beyonce didn’t write and/or produce the songs on solange’s album…beyonce didnt record solange’s songs in the studio…beyonce didnt put all the hard work in effort into “Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams…” SOLANGE DID! Yall she is just tired of being recognized or given credit because she is beyonce’s little sister. There is so much more to her than that…obviously a whole lot more than people understand. Solange is an individual artist with a very unique and creative style. Give credit where credit is due! The album is bangin…its so real! She wants respect and she deserves it because she’s worked hard. Give her that! She is very talented! i mean really people must we type it out

I understand she wants to set herself apart from her sister but there are better–smarter ways of doing so. Reprimanding the anchor woman LIVE on air, where do you think thats going to get you? You should have said in the pre-interview “I’d prefer not to be commented or comment on my sister…” And if the anchor woman went ahead with a comment; you should have a plan B reaction. You’re in the Lime light darlin, you make your money off of the public, dont piss on the hand that feeds you…

I think that yes, she should have said it b4r or after the shooting and 2 say it like that was also wrong. She has a point though, after constantly hearing that she does not want 2 be compared with her sister you would think that the reporters who research b4 they get to interview her would know NOT to do so.
When you feel you have grown into your own person and walk in it (which she DEFINETLY IS; bad mouth and all lol) the last thing you need is to be told CONSTANTLY that you are a shadow of anyone else.

What people don’t know is that the woman asked her about Jay and him selling the 40/40 club and if she could give her any info about it. When Solange said no, they scrapped it, but she didn’t know they didn’t broadcast it. I’m with her (although she could’ve been a little more nice about it since image is everything in the business she’s in). She doesn’t own, operate, or have any other affiliation to Jay’s club, so why ask her just because he’s married to her sister? That isn’t for her to tell and you didn’t ask her there for that so it WAS unprofessional on the reporter’s part. First rule of journalism: stick to the topic and she didn’t do that so she got what she deserved (to be put on blast).
