August 21, 2008 Rihanna Only Has $20,000 To Her Name?!
Love muffins, I just ran across something very interesting. MTV reported that Rihanna is broke basically. Rihanna fired her business manager Patricia Williams after Rihanna realized that the bulk of her money was missing.
Williams said: “It’s not my fault that she only has $20,000 to her name… I have worked for many high profile actors, musicians and multi-million dollar corporations. Why would I steal from Rihanna?…I showed her all the paperwork and tried to explain to her the circumstances but she wouldn’t listen. She called me all sorts of horrible names and stormed off.”
Rihanna’s single Umbrella was number one on both sides of the Atlantic while her recent album Good Girl Gone Bad has sold around 5 million copies worldwide. She has also performed stadium tours across the US and Europe and signed lucrative sponsorship deals. So it’s a surprise that the Barbados born singer is skint. Williams has accused her label Def Jam of not funding Rihanna properly.
She said: “Def Jam doesn’t fund Rihanna properly, so Marc uses the money Rihanna makes from third-party endorsements and from tours to fund her album and music videos.” MTV
Hot damn! Rihanna hasn’t confirmed or denied the allegations, but one has to wonder. Rihanna in actuality makes her money from hit singles and endorsements, not from her record sales. So I am on the fence with this one. Thoughts?

Actually Chris , you must not know anything yourself. Yes , the writers and producers make the most money on the singles, the artist as well makes money on the singles= when they sell their albums or in music industry terms “push units”. She does get a cut.
Now , the cut that she makes , she can do 1 of 2 things, she can… pocket it, which i dont know any artist which would do such a stupid thing. OR she can invest it back into her album or project as the industry will recognize it.
Artist only pay for the videos if they are not acrruing the album sales or money that was projected for the project for ie Janet Jackson. However since she has sold that many records, i am sure that her record label budegeted for her videos.
Artist in the end do not make that much money off album sales, but they do make their coin off of tours and promotions. So between her campaign ads that she has, concert promotions which is totally different from tours, which she did go on with Kanye West… also not including any overseas performances… I am sure that she is not broke!!!!
Do i believe that something may have went wrong with her budget and people handling her money… yes its possible, it happens to every artist. But any idiot can see from recent pictures of her having lavish shopping sprees and etc… she is nowhere near broke. A fierce boot, cute trinket, and and ovah shade costs more than $20,000 dollars sweetie.
So the only way that you can find out for sure is stand off rodeo drive where she shops frequently through out the week and ask her for a coin. See what she says? You might just get it, if not, she’ll probably do the same thing that she did with these allegations….PAY IT!

FaceNV, you can’t call someone out and then spit nonsense. it makes you look dumb. the very reason your provided as evidence of her surplus is probably y she’s broke LMAO! seriously every pic B puts up of her is a fancy vaca or her shopping. I doubt and hope she isn’t broke, but we aren’t so old that MCHammer is not in our recent memories. He had endorsements galore and well….he’s hocking scriptures and poplocking for change.
AND ANOTHER THING, credit card companies love to extend stupid credit to celebs. I know you aren’t THAT touched right? They encourage them to shop shop shop so that they can charge stupid rates! Seriously, the only one REALLY ballin and shoppin is Paris Hilton as that haffa pulled out bank strapped bricks of $100’s on rodeo! WORDUP! I’ve yet to see a black star do that and not end up on the blog circuit talking bout them boys bout ta repo they drawz!
i wish RiRi the best, but she’s not a HUGE star yet. she’s popular, but time will tell if she has the staying power/business smarts. Her ass better get to hiring taiwanians to sew up some cheap fallapart fits like Kimora or Beyonce and Tacky Tina or the next article might be all truf!

oh this news again…rihanna could very well be broke i’m not saying it isn’t true and i not saying it is…but facenvocalz…tlc had way more hits than rihanna and headlined way more tours and they filed for bankruptcy so don’t put your head on a block for ri…even if she aint broke you on here fighting it down like you gonna get a cut outta her money

It sounds like someone is robbing this young lady. She needs to get with someone she can trust and figure out where the money went. I know she’s young, but she can’t depend on other people to keep track of her finances. This is no surprise as we have seen it before with Tony Braxton and TLC among others.

Umm y’all are silly. I’m sure Ri is broke because she is spending lavishly. She loves to shop, hello!! She may have had 2 mill at the beginning of the year but judging by the spending and lack of investing she could be down to 20 G’s. It could happen and has happened to many before her. Toni and her addiction to Tiffany’s broke her. She even admitted to it but now she is sitting lovely. Not to mention, did you see the episode with Keyshia Cole on her show where her accountant told her to slow down on spending? Well same thing for Rihanna. The money can run out.
I believe she is broke, no question.

all i have to say is reading and education is fundemental
how does rihanna live day to day without know what her financess are?
I mean im an average middle class american and i know were every nickle comes from and were it goes, i find it illogical that rihana being of sound mind and body, and a grown as women isn’t aware of her finances, how does one get to a point were u have people micro manage your life (ex handlers). I mean does she pay someone to wipe her ass, or dress her or feed her, is that to much for her that she requires assitants. I mean if i was a multi million dollar making celebrity i would make time to know and be on op of my finances. I think any educated person who knows how to count would be i mean its redicules theres no way her manager should have been able to steal a dime from her ( if thats the case) if rihanna was on the ball !! My mother a;ways told me as im sure your have told you all, ” that people can only do to you what you allow”

This article was on rihanna daily.com I dont believe this she has been doing way to much these past 2 years for her only to have 20,000 and if she does only have that much then could it be that her manager stole the money? I wouldnt believe it it just doesnt make sense she put her on serious blast…..And I dont appreciate it at all

The fact that she has to pay her stylist, people who wrote the songs for her since she doesn’t write her own music, she has to pay producers, it wouldn’t be surprising at all because all the shopping and vacationing she does on the side can add up and she only has Samsung and covergirl as her side ventures so…..this happens to alot of young singers who rely on other people to make their career

Oh yes.. Seems like i got it a bit crunk up on this topic.
So lets break it down yal…
To address in the order that the crunkness came in…
1. I wasn’t calling anyone out, but replying to , what at that time, was the only post inregards to this topic accesible.
2. Everyone keeps using the same people as examples for being broke and/or claiming bankruptcy… TLC/Hammer & you guys are absoutely right, they were broke, however yal also left out the final ti he he on these cases. TLC’S financial and regular manager could not produce any documentation as to where there money was going or being spent, which in the end leads people to believe that people was stealing from them. And Hammer? really yal? Oh stop! Hammer had an endorsement campaign for all of 2 years of his career of starting off in arrears bc he wanted to have over 30 people on stage that he was no bugeted for. So yes in those cases after while would warrant someone to be broke or file for bankruptcy. oh yeah Toni Braxton didnt file for bankruptcy until after her label saw that the albums she was putting out was not selling as before = LIMITED BUDGET FROM LABEL (out of pocket expenes)
3.Studying Entertainment Law means in the process of getting either regular knowledge from a book, a degree, or a degree which will then merge into receiving certifications… So since you are in the process, lets re-visit this topic again once you receive your accolades for it, and confirm accuracy.
I mean really , like i said its possible. Im not batting for anyone, she may very well be broke , which i hope this is not the case, But until we see someone confirm it that is reputable or pertinent to her circle of management… ITS ALL JUST SPECULATION.
